Artist Pointe

We recently had dinner at Artist point twice during our stay in December. The first night the meal and service was great. The server was very attentive and looked after our 2 DD all night making them feel very special.

DW and I both had the Smoky Portobello Soup with roasted Shiitakes and Chive Oil soup. The flavour was superb although DW said later she felt almost full after that and spoiled her main dish.

For mains I had the Scallops while DW had the Marinated Pork Chop again both were great. I made a complete pig of myself and had the cobbler.

The second night the restaurant was half empty and the service was poor. Started baly when we were queued and one guest decided he was more important than everyone else and pushed into the head of the queue. When challenged he simply shrugged his shoulders and continued talking to the CM about his reservation.

The poor service may have been due to the table of Wilderness Lodge Management and guests next to us, they seemed to have 3 or 4 CM's hovering around them at all times and ignored everyone else.

Again I tried the mushroom soup and agin it was fantastic. DW skipped her starter and went straight to her main Buffalo. It was a little tough but full of flavour. I had their house specialty Cedar Plank Roasted King Salmon. Again I quite enjoyed the dish.

This time I tried the panna cotta and it was lovely.

Both times the kids really enjoyed Penne Pasta and the micky puzzle, which is a white chocolate jigsaw puzzle thta they get to paint and then eat. It kept them entertained for ages. It was a pitty the service spoiled the night.

Our last dinner there was November. I had the halibut which was in a champagne sauce I think. It was absolutely delicious. Everyone else in my family had the salmon which they order almost every time. It's AP's signature dish and they're all fans of it.

BTW, I think it's fine to ask here. That's the whole point of the dining forum, isn't it? Until a year or two ago, reviews and questions like that were all here. Now there's a sub forum for just reviews but this is the place to ask questions, I thought.

We eat at AP every trip and it's always been great. My DW and I go there without children to celebrate our wedding aniv., which is a week before our trip. Last trip (Aug), I had the cedar plank salmon and my wife had the pork chops. Both were excellent. I am not a big salmon fan, but I had heard so much about cedar plank fish, that I decided to try it and I'm glad I did. The service has always been great, and it's at least a little less hectic than most Disney restaurants. Much quieter, too ! We have been there with our 2 kids, and they enjoy it as well. Good luck.

Thank you to all that responded. BTW - the sub forums weren't as informative as asking the question here was. We have ADR"s and I love salmon so I already know what I'm having.

Our best to everyone! Thanks again. :woohoo:

My food report (called Larded and Loaded) is buried somewhere after page 1 in the Reviews sub-forum, but my full Larded and Loaded trip report below has my food reports included. I reviewed Artist Point on Day 8, and I put a handy index for each day on my original post. Click my signature link and you'll find it. :)
