I have reservations for Artist Point for dinner in july, and I am hoping to hear some of your reviews...

Also, is there a dress code? We will be going back out to MK right after dinner, so we'll need to dress for both the restuarant AND MK.

Thanks!

Artist Point is in our top two (with CA Grill) and it's so worth it! First of all, it's beautiful. The first time we went, we took the boat from MK and it was half raining-half sunny, and the sun was setting. A beautiful way to see the Wilderness Lodge for the first time.

The food/wine is amazing. We did the 4-course Prix Fixe, which is pretty great, and we also did the wine flight. My DH had the Salmon, and I had the Buffalo Steak - it was all terrific, but I would walk through fire for that Smoky Portobello Soup.

We really ate too much when we were there and had to sit in the lobby at the fireplace before we were able to go back to the Dolphin! This time out, we'll be taking it easier, and perhaps just getting a single glass of wine.

Dress-wise, they say 'business-casual'. Basically, it's no tank-tops or anything else you'd be self-conscious about wearing in a nice restaurant. You can always bring other clothes for the park and get a locker...

We'll be there next month, and I can't wait to go back to Artist Point. You'll love it!!!

We were there last fall and are planning to go again next trip. Food was delicious (I totally agree about the mushroom soup - TDF!) and atmosphere is really nice and relaxing. I think the above poster is correct about dress. I think as long as you are tidy and not in cut offs/tank tops you are ok.

FWIW, we also had the prix fix and it was a great deal ($50 for salad, soup, entree, and dessert). JJ

AP is one of my favorite places. Be sure to try the vennison spring rolls appetizer and the buffalo steak main course. And for desert - coffee two ways.

I believe that AP does have a dress code - they should have informed you when you make your reservations.

Went to AP back in Oct. and loved it. Definitely our favorite meal at Disney. We will be going back again in Dec. It is a must do meal for us. I had the frisee salad, salmon, and cobbler for dessert. All were fabulous. My DH had the venison spring rolls, the buffalo steak, forget the dessert. All were spectacular.

Excellent suggestions--I had the spring rolls and buffalo in January. :thumbsup2

AP is my second favorite WDW restaurant. Flying Fish is first.

As for dress code, we went "nice casual."

Long time lurker, but I rarely post. Artist Point prompted me to the keyboard! :)

Our absolute favorite place to eat in Disney World! The food, atmosphere, wine - all great! (Of course Wilderness Lodge is our FAVORITE resort!) Love the wine flights! But, the BEST part is the Smoky Portobello Soup. Unbelievable!

I’m always surprised that Artist Point does not get more attention!

About the dress, I agree. We went “dressy casual.” Not something I could wear to MK.

Just had to pipe in - "coffee two ways" is the Disney food I dream about - IMHO best dessert in WDW, and I don't drink coffee.
AP is the best - and we usually go to MK after eating there, and dress a bit dressier than usual for a park, but in the summer when we go - I see you're going in July this means a skirt and sandals with a non-tank top shirt and we're usually dressed fine. Yes there are people dressed up, but when we get dressed up for AP we've actually felt out of place, there are always people there in shorts and polo shirts, so we compromise with skirts or capri pants.

Hope this was helpful.

Thank you all! I am sooooo looking forward to our dinner there now. I think we will end up compromising with dressy capris or skirts and light tops (not tanks!). I'd rather not have to worry about changing and losing time between the two places.

The food sounds divine! I think it will make a great birthday dinner for my best friend!

I appreciate all of the input!

I have to agree with the other posters, the smoky portobello soup is nectar of the gods, and the cedar plank salmon was the best salmon I have ever tasted.

With regards to dress code we were informed that it was smart business when we booked, but found that many people dressed as per park attire .

This is one of the few restaurants we have not tried yet. Can anyone tell me if they have a children's menu? Are well-behaved, well-dressed children OK?

Thanks!

Yes, they have a children's menu and certainly kids not flying around unsupervised are more than welcome. We took our then 4 yr old daughter a couple of years ago and she enjoyed it. Our server was topnotch and treated her very well. The server timed the kid's meal to coincide with the entrees of our meals, and we had brought coloring book, crayons, etc. to keep our daughter occupied. The kid's dessert was a white chocolate Mickey puzzle that she could paint with edible paints then eat. Loads of fun for her.

We've since opted to use the Cubs Den since it's more enjoyable for us and for our daughter. I will also say that due to AP being a signature, 2TS restaurant, typically there are fewer children there than many other places. It is upscale so use your best instinct as you know your child better than anyone.

As for the food, it is excellent as noted by others and the service has been superb. I love the wine flight, the smoky portobello soup, and the buffalo. Good eats!

AP is one of our favorite restaurants also. We have been with our kids several times. They do have a very nice kids menu. My DS eats "adult" type food and I think they had a kids steak. MY DD eats more standard kids food. They were both happy. They will also give the kids a picture to color and they will put them on the wall.

Great place, don't miss this one!

-Almost forgot the best part. They have a great dessert for kids with the chocolate Mickey puzzle and "paints". You will love it.

love it! our top 3 in not particular order: Artist Point, Jiko, Flying Fish. have had excellent meals and wonderful service at all 3. enjoy your dining experience at AP!

I was very impressed with AP. We had the salmon and tenderloin. Both superb. The smoky portabella soup is to die for. DH had the coffee two ways and I had the cobbler. While the cobbler was good, my two bites of DH's dessert convinced me I ordered the wrong thing!

We brought our 7 year old and 9 year old. DD wore a skirt and sandals. DS wore some nice khaki shorts and a white polo shirt. They did have a nice kids menu. My kids are picky eaters and they both found something they liked off the menu. They were given a picture of Mickey to color and got to post it on a board and received a certificate. They were thrilled. There were other kids there when we went and they were all well behaved.

DD and I have made ADR's for AP for our "girl's trip" during FDP. This thread makes me REALLY look forward to it! We've stayed at WL 3 times and never done AP....

I thought AP was just 1 TS per person for DP - we are both "adults" for DP purposes. I'm thinking now I will pay OOP for DD - just to get that painting/chocolate thingy as kid's meal, and use 1 - (or 2?) TS credits for my dinner???
Anyone??

I'm really looking forward to trying this in December. We chose it because it was recommended to us as quiet but I;m glad to hear the food is excellent also.

not only is the food great, the view is pretty darn nice too!!
my wife and i dined there for our anniversary and the food was terrific.
i love the lodge fizz and my wife enjoyed her raspberry rapids (for anyone interested in great drinks other than the wines)

the best part of the night was desert :teeth: the cobbler is worth going to AP for!!! a definate thumbs up :thumbsup2
