Do you think I should try to check in at 9:30 am? I'm actually not sure what to do so early in the morning.... can you check in at 9:30 am?

You can certainly go to the resort...they may have a room ready. Depends on the season and crowd levels, etc.

But you can definitely check-in and get all of the paperwork done, drop off your luggage at the front desk, etc. and then since it is so early...the day is yours! Head to the pool, a park, shopping at DTD, a character meal at one of the resorts to get you in the Disney mood (if you are too tired from traveling to hit a park)....oh, the option!

We usually take our time and wander around the resort, then head for the pool (you can get your swim suit from your luggage - if room is not ready). All of the resorts have a bathroom near the pool for changing.

It's a nice day to relax.

Yes, you certainly can!

But if it's a busy time, say, like F&W time, don't expect to get into a room before 4:00 p.m., the stated check in time for DVC Resorts!

In March we arrived at 10:00Am and checked in. They actually had our room all ready. We just dumped our stuff and off we went. From what I read its a crap shoot on whether you'll get you room or not, but I would try.

We leave tonight and are staying at the Dolphin for one night and are going to try to check in early Saturday morning.

I always check in early. Typically, I don't get the actual room number, but I get the keys, and Disney MAKES the room assignment. They just don't tell you. I think you're more likely to get any special requests if you check in early, and say you're willing to wait for the actual room.

One other benefit is that you can get your parking pass at checkin, so if you drive to the resorts, you don't have to pay for that first day of parking. Or if you're like me, you just leave your vehicle at the resort and hop the bus. They will usually tell you which building you are going to be in.

If you are using DME be sure to pack your bathing suit in a carryon if you think you would like to spend the time by the pool as your luggage will not arrive until a couple of hours later.

It's better to get it out of the way at that time the staff should be getting ready for check-outs that don't use Express. So they will be at the Max of the day around that time.

Like the others have said once it's done it's done .All you have to do is wait for your room to open in it's not already. And wait means get to go and do other things.

We also check in first thing upon arrival (we take the first morning flight), especially since my room "requests" are medically warranted. I'm not sure if they would be granted if we checked in later, but I'm not willing to take that chance. :) They do seem to assign the actual room at the time, even if it's not ready yet.

Nothing wrong with checking in at 9:30AM. You never know, your room just might be available. Wouldn't that be great?

we checked into BWV end of August @ 9:45 am and was able to get into our room right away.

We checked in on the 20th at POR and got our rm at 10:00 am.

We arrived at 9 am at BCV after a cruise. There was a long line at the desk when we arrived, and we sat down to wait it out and fell asleep! Very comfy lobby furniture. We checked in at 9:30, put on our suits and went to the pool. Would not have thought to carry a bag for the pool had I not read about it here. We had a great time.

you might be able to get in, alot of people leave early. the housekeeping arrives early so they will have some rooms ready by then. lets say at least one room will be ready per housekeeper.

I have been lucky in the past and got a room at 10.00am, I have also had to wait, front desk can call you to let you know when your room is ready.

You can always check-in at that time. It's basically luck if your room is ready or not. In June, my niece & I checked in at BWV at around noon, our room was ready. A couple of weeks ago I checked in at the same time again at BWV, had to wait until 3:15 for the room to be ready. They gave me a card with a number to call, I called at 2:00 it was not ready, I tried again at 3:15 and it was.

It's so nice when that happens. We've experienced it maybe twice in a hundred visits. But we always keep trying. :goodvibes

Last month we hosted some friends who arrived on the Disney bus from MCO. Rooms weren't ready of course at 10am. They still had warm clothes on, and the baggage guys let them retrieve cooler clothing from their luggage that was stored.

We have checked in early many times and the last time we packed our swim suits and played at SAB while we waited for our room. It was the most relaxing day and we kept saying how just hours earlier we were in CT snow and now we are in FL sunshine! :sunny: After a nice lunch and some more swimming, it was suddenly 4:00! - We called and the room was waiting for us.

For my upcoming December trip, we arrive early (since Delta has rescheduled our flight two times and it now arrives at 9:30am instead of 11:00.) I don't know if it will be pool weather so I am thinking we will wander the resort or head over to World Showcase for the afternoon until the magical time arrives. I have Spoodles dinner reservations for that evening, so we will have to stay in the general area to meet our ressie time.

Ahh - these are the kind of dilemma’s I love to worry about! :thumbsup2

We got into our room at BWV at 7.20am in August this year! It's worth a try. The week after, we did not get into OKW until 4.20pm! The luck of the draw, I suppose.
