Arrival day. Too much?

This is NOT true. There IS a direct bus from HS to MK. It's right outside with all the other buses.

Whoops. My bad! I confused myself with resort-to-resort transportation vs. park-to-park transporation

The PP is correct, you could take a bus from DHS to the MK.

But unless you have a sentimental reason to want to go to the MK the first day (which it seems you might), I still think it sounds like a much more fun and relaxing first day to do DHS with your FP+, then the lovely boat ride to Epcot for a wonderful dinner, then strolling around WS before Illuminations to finish the night.

You don't say where you are staying, but even after Illuminations can be pleasant if you take your time leaving the park, stop in a few shops, then make your way to resort transportation.

Have fun whatever you decide. I'd say be flexible, depending on how your group is holding up, but you will want to make an ADR.

I'd go to DHS and Epcot then head back to the resort, especially if you have an early/long day the next day.

I knew you guys were going to say that. It sounds so fun!

It sounds like fun for a solo trip or a buddy trip. Not much fun for a group trip. Don't know how old your parents are or what their stamina is, but whenever you get more than one or two people in a group, things just go slower.

Also, arriving at noon...arriving where? Your resort? The park? Might there be any travel delays? I try to not book much of anything on arrival day, especially not a table service, because of concerns about delays.

Depends on your arrival time and how everyone feels. One year my husband was tired and not well and all we did was go to MK for a little while. Last year we arrived early , felt great and stayed out the rest of the day and night. I say make the plans and then go by how everyone is feeling once you get there. You can always cancel your fast pass, or going into another park. Of course you would have to keep your dinner reservation.
