Arranging airfare thro' ABD question

Hi,

We are thinking of doing the Peru itinerary in 2013, but would want to stay on in Peru for a number of days at the end of the ABD tour to visit some other sites. If we book our airfare through ABD, can we ask them to arrange our return flight for several days after the end of the tour? Has anyone done this? Or is it easier to make your own air travel arrangements?

Thanks in advance.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they do air from Canada (I am Canadian too, so I looked into that).

We have been debating which ABD we want to go on, and think we decided on Peru. When are you going?

We usually find our own airfare then call ABD and have them book it--if we left it to them to find the flights we may not get the best price. They are great about taking what you found--and then it gives the added trip protection for that flight too. But...we also book pre or post nights via ABD, which gives us the transport to the airport (and the airport is relatively far in Lima from the ABD hotel they use). If you book outside of the ABD post-nights offered (or not through ABD) you'll likely not have the airport transportation. I imagine the number of pre or post nights offered varies with each trip.

Oh, that's a shame if that is the case. Had hoped to book everything with ABD in case the trip is subsequently cancelled for some reason such as low numbers.

We're looking at the adult only dates in fall 2013, probably the Sept one.

Thanks for the good tips. Will certainly bear them in mind if ABD does offer the service of arranging flights to Canadians.

We just booked Oct. 2013! We wanted Sept but don't want to miss a family event happening in Sept.

Last time we found our own airfare then called ABD and had them book it. We spent 5 days in Europe on our way to our ABD South Africa and they had no problem doing that, although it made it a way more complicated booking, and had nothing to do with ABD.

I don't know about the Canada question (sorry!) but if ABD books it, they will just book whatever you want them to (as long as it's still available when they go to book it). They don't have anything special worked out with the airlines like DCL does. They're acting like any Travel Agent would. They'll figure it all out for you, too, if you want them to, but it might not be as good a deal as you could get if you tell them exactly what you want.

Also, if ABD cancels a trip (only happens rarely these days) they will take care of your airfare whether you book it through them or not. It's much easier if they've booked the airfare (no refunds or credits required), but it will be handled either way. (When my trip got canceled in 2009, they paid to have my flight moved up a day and switched to Alaska, and I didn't book the airfare through them). ABD works it all out one way or another.

Hi Boardwalk Bride, I contacted ABD too and they confirmed that they will only arrange flights to/from the US, so us Canadians don't have the option of booking flights thro' them. To be honest, I was surprised by that as Disney Cruise Line does arrange flights to/from Canada. :confused3 Thanks for everyone's responses about booking airfare independently of ABD :thumbsup2.
