Army Wives on Lifetime ?

Military wife with a tiny vent here...

Is anyone else a touch irritated that they seem to be pulling away from portraying what life in the Army is really like? When the show began it was much more real. Pamela and Roxy living in small quarters on post, hanging laundry together, gossiping. Lots of post politics going on, especially among the wives. Pamela and Chase were in debt, Roxy worked at the Hump as a waitress desperately trying to make ends meet.

Denise and Claudia Joy (and Roland) showed the other side as officers wives. Both were stay at home moms struggling to raise teens in a difficult lifestyle for families. Both had put off their personal dreams for the sake of their husbands careers. That might not be popular with modern women but it is extremely realistic for military wives. Now they are all employed with fabulous careers, including Roxy who I don't think even has a high school education. None stay home with the kids, which MANY military wives do (or they work part time, it's hard to keep a job when you move around that much.)

Now with Treavor joining OCS and Chase leaving the service there will no enlisted men at all, and they are the heart and soul of the Army. The show has gotten much more politically correct, too.

I still loved this show. They get some things right. Jeremy's stuggles with combat was done very well. I cried my eyes out when he was killed. The way Roxie and Trevor struggled during his deployment was right on, too. The Homecoming scenes are wonderful! I love these characters and know they need to evolve to keep the show fresh, and it is a TV show after all. I just wish they'd stick with the original realism. That's what made me love the show in the first place.

That's just my little vent for the day. It's been bugging me for the last two seasons. I'm still looking forward to next season, though. Can't wait to see what they come up with.

Oh, crud I missed it last night! And I don't think they will put it on the website for a few days, either. I do know who leaves but that's all, so I can't look here anymore until I see it. La la la la, I can't hear you! :)

Honestly, I quit watching after the season premier for the second season because i didn't like the way that we were being portrayed.

When my husband came back from deployment, and i tried explaining the plot to him:
-This one cheated on his wife.
-This one almost cheated on her husband while he was gone.
- This one beats up his mom when his dad is gone.
-This one's daughter died when someone stole explosives from the base because his wife was cheating on him...

That isn't the kind of military spouse that I am, and not what I want to world to think we all are.

I missed last nights episode also....could you possibly pm me who is leaving? I'm hoping its Roxy. I not only dislike her character but I think she's a lousy actress.

Chase (Jeremy Davidson) had a small role on Pan Am last season. Don't know if that show has been renewed or not.

I loved when Roxy's son was getting his first military ID!!

I remember how excited my 3 DD's were when they got their first one. My DH took them to get the ID and then to the Officer's Club for lunch. Each of them thought they were soooooo grown up. :) They loved their Daddy/Daughter dates.

Are they writing Claudia Joy out?
Lots of new characters this season....

Not sure if they are writing her out but I'm really confused by why they are inserting all these new people. And did you see the preview for next weeks? Not too sure what the point of this is :confused3

I saw that Caludia Joy has drug problems in real life so maybe that is why they are trying to get rid of her. I must say being a military wife the show is starting to get whack and not realistic at all.

Thought the same thing......
I also thought "Charlie" was going to try to a very close friend to Roland. That was a curve ball.

She's in AA or some kind of alcohol rehab so they put her out for a few weeks.

The last 2 episodes have been good and this next one looks good. It was about time. The last few seasons and the first few episodes of this one have been awful!

I think they are trying to tackle too many things at once though. They put them up the next day now instead of having to wait until Thursday.

Side note, the woman that plays Charlie is Roland's real life wife and she looks way pregnant the few times they flashed her below the neck for a second. Obviously that isn't going to be written in. :)

I cannot picture her with the captain though, not the same sex relationship thing, just those two don't look like they "fit" together.

Air Force wife here and I couldn't agree more. I'm just about done with this show. I keep watching, waiting for it to get better, but it's not happening.

You mean like all the doctor, lawyer, forensic scientist, detective shows are "realistic"? :rotfl:Why would you expect any television drama to be realistic?

Anyone know if Sunday nights ep was the season finale or is there one coming up? There was no preview for next week :confused3

I didn't watch it yet so I don't know if it is the last episode , but since the Client List started several weeks ago, there have been no previews at the end of Army Wives. They show them during a break in the Client List.
