Army Came Through!!!!

After an EXTENSIVE letter writing campaign on my part - the Army relented!!!!! Middle son has been granted leave and will be able to be BEST MAN at Oldest Son's Wedding 12/15 at Disney!!!!!!!! Yacht Club Gazebo Monday afternoon 12/15 - I am so happy I could bust!!!!!

He's been in Iraq since April - his second tour!! - and was supposed to be OUT of the Army 10/12 but was "stop-lossed" until Nov. 09!! We had set the date for the wedding over a year ago anticipating that Chris would be home for good by then but the Army had other ideas. Then all the Dec. leave slots are given first to soldiers with families/children (as appropriate), but that left my oldest DS without his brother and best friend for a best man!! I wrote to anyone and everyone (congresspeople, army, chaplains) and one of the letters actually worked!!! He's also being awarded the Medal of Valor for saving a fellow soldier's life during an attack in August. I'm so proud of him and so happy this worked out - this will be the best Disney trip EVER!!

CONGRATS!!! That is wonderful. It must be such a great feeling. My brother who is in the NAVY can not get the leave but my Marine brother can. So I will just have one brother who is a live and kicking there and my navy brother is going to be in cardboard form!

Congrats...we had to switch our date 2 and almost 3 times but in the end it all worked out. Thank your son from one ARMY family to another. My husband is the sandbox now - on a 15 mos tour.
