NO AP, NO AAA, NO CODES... Will you still be willing to pay rack rates at those Deluxes? Let's just say "money IS the object". Are the deluxes that much worth it?

When you do Deluxes and while you're on the trip, do you cut budget somewhere else just to be able to stay there? When you stay in the Deluxes, do you split your stay with Moderate or Value? But if you only do Deluxes, is your stay shorter?

Any Deluxes that is worth paying rack rates?

NEVER!

I wouldn't pay rack rate ANYWHERE! I would have to be beyond desperate.

I try not to pay "rack rate" for anything in life! For me....part of the enjoyment is getting a good deal. It's the thrill of the hunt, so...no discount, no stay.

The only resort I would pay rack rate for is The Contemporary. The location can't be beat.

Yep and I've done it for years! I never knew discounts existed so I happily paid rackrate all the time. Now I do try to get a discount, either AAA or AP, but still pay rack if I have to. We love the Poly and have no problem paying for it. Last time was May 2004. I paid $350 a night for the Poly for 10 nights. I did get an AP discount this trip though!

Bit the bullet and paid rack rate during spring break one year for the CR, garden wing. We were originally at the Hotel Royal Plaza in downtown disney, it was a real disappointment. We had booked it not necessarily because we were planning on going to WDW. we were actually in the area for another event in Lakeland, just decided we'd stay in the WDW are because the Lakeland area hotels were booked up. The HRP was a dump and we were very unhappy with the parking lot trams and some of the people that rode them. DH told me as we were waiting in the hot sun while a family argued with the tram driver to get us insite, he didn't care how much it cost. Well, I did, and it cost but being told when we checked in the next moning at 10:30AM that our room was available (and it was clean and HAD towels, something HRP didn't) was worth it. Of course now that I am familiar with AP rates it'd be really hard to go back to rack again...........

I wouldn't pay rack rate for a deluxe. If I could not obtain some type of discount, I would switch to a moderate or value.

Nope, there are too many discounts out there to take advantage of.

Yes, I'd pay it. I've been on trips before (not just Disney) where I spent the whole trip wishing I'd sprung for the hotel I really wanted to stay in and my initial happiness with a cheaper room didn't last much longer than check-in. But we spend a great deal of time at the resort instead of the parks...if we only slept in our room at night and were gone all day, I'd probably feel differently. We once had a long weekend at the Dolphin, and never left the hotel, and had a terrific time! We were more tired when we realized when we got to Orlando, and concentrated on relaxing and catching up on movies. It was a wonderful time, but I'm sure most people would think it absurd to go all the way to Orlando to watch in room movies :)

I am guilty of only paying rack rates!!! To book concierge levels and the weeks that I want, I always pay for it. I just save to afford it. I am glad to see there a few others who are paying rack rate also. I have to say it is definitely worth it for the deluxes~

I've always paid rack rate too, although part of that was due to ignorance of some of the discounts available. Next time I go I may try to get the AAA rate. If none are available, I'd still pay rack rate tho. I've always found it to be worth it.

I'd have to say "yes" because we are. DH decided since this is our first family vacation we were going to do it in style so he booked concierge so we are paying rack. Before we went this route we did try to see about a AAA discount but at the time weren't any for any of the hotels :confused3 . I did have a hard time with the cost in the beginning, but I've finally come to terms with it (especially after our tax refund paid for it all). We're going to Disney World. We are going to have a blast and I get the feeling with our 3 kids we may end up spending a good amout of time at AKL so we might as well stay someplace I know we are all going to love.

I'd like to know where women find husbands like these! ;) Guess mine was wired differently!! :teeth:

If I lived in Florida, or at least on the east coast, then yes, I'd pay rack rate.
But coming from Colorado makes our WDW vacations so expensive, I can only justify staying at a Deluxe with an AP code.

Yes, the deluxes are worth it ~~ would I pay rack rate? Not if I can help it!!
In our 20-plus trips to WDW we have always stayed at a deluxe and have always had a code or some sort of discount :)

Telly,

I can tell you that I did not feel the Poly was worth the rack rate if money is an object. We had an AP rate.

No way. Not for a deluxe. I wanted to stay at GF for Christmas, but because the rack rate is so outragous, we are staying to CBR. No AAA or AP (keeping fingers crossed) for holiday season. I prefer a deluxe, but can't justify the rack rate prices.
