Okay, I think everyone here can agree “Veranda’s Are Good”. But, some people will just not cruise without one, other people (like me) are happy with any cabin - just let us on the ship.

So, ignoring all the other factors like vacation time, cost of airfare, etc… The question is this: Would you be willing to cruise in a Cat 10 cabin if you could go twice as often?

I once asked the rebook lady how much it would cost to sail in a cat 6 on the Magic for an entire YEAR! She laughed at me. :)

Verandah! On our first four cruises we had a verandah, on our fifth we tried an inside room. We did not like it at all. We felt like we were in a cave. We spent a lot of time on outside decks but still missed our verandah. So I guess verandah or nothing.

In a heartbeat I will take a category 10. I thought maybe I wouldn't like it but I don't have any issue at all. DH and I even did a cat. 11 and I would do that again as well.

I have cruised in all cabin classes (except suites) and not once did my cabin class have a significant effect on my cruise experience.

We had a great cruise with 2 cat 10 adjoining rooms. Sorta like the poor mans suite!

On our pervious cruises we've had a veranda and loved it. This last time, in order to be able to have the trip paid for my our hurricane cruise refund and go so soon, we booked a cat 11. It was just my DW and I, and we really liked the stateroom. It helped that it was a "side ways" configuration, but even if it hadn't been, it was more than comfy for the two of us. I did miss at least being able to see outside, though the view from the bridge channel helped. When we bring our children we're a family of 5, so next time we may consider booking two staterooms and I would really like to have at least one be an ocean view. But again, we book an inside room again in a heart beat if it meant getting back on the ship sooner!

Why not comprimise and get a porthole room? We were pleasantly surprised on our 1/8/05 Magic cruise just how large the portholes are. Maybe 3ft. in diameter...

As long as I don't have to swim along behind the ship, I'll be happy!

We just had our first verandah last month. It was fun, but not essential. I really liked the split bath, though (we've always done Cat. 11 before).

I liked the port holes, at least the ones I saw as we were peaking into other rooms. Most of them are pretty large and give a nice view. Again, we've enjoyed our verandas in the past, always had "first" breakfast and late afternoon snacks on it as well as book reading time. Though I'm in agreement with BethC1952, we're just thrilled when we're on the ship.

No, I don't like inside cabins. I would do cat 9, deck 2 or a higher cat. It's important for me to see/watch the sea from the cabin. Am I in the room a lot? No, but if and when I want to see the water from my cabin, I will be able to do so.

Well one of my tags says it all - give me that verandah! I love sitting out there especially in the early morning or late evening and just watching the world go by. On a crazy sea day I much prefer reading a book on my verandah than fighting the crowds up at the pools too.

I said verandah, but any "outside" would be great, I did not like an inside, only cruised once on an inside, we slept for almost an entire day!!!! Had no clue what time it was! Granted we were alot younger, and probably out a lot later than we are now. But I just like sunlight!

We have done Cat 11 4 times, Cat 8 porthole once and Cat 10 secret porthole once. We were happy with all. Just get me on that ship and make sure I have some money left over for the spa! If I had to choose between a porthole/verandah and spa treatments, I would take the 11 with spa anyday. As for the sun not waking us up, we just ask Mickey to give us a ring before we go to bed. He is always very prompt at calling and reminding us that it's time to get up. We even had to do that with the portholes or would have slept the day away with that gentle rocking of the ship. ahhhhhh

Consider this (unfortunately) when deciding which room to choose. If you or any of your family members get sick while onboard, you would probably prefer a room with a view. My DH and I both had bouts of sickness while onboard:( -me with a sinus infection and him with a HORRIBLE intestinal illness which led to him being quarantined to the room! I'd have HATED having an inside room on that cruise! The verandah made the trip pleasurable. However I will probably choose a porthole room next time to save money.

I can do an ocenview instead of a verandah but I couldn't sleep in a room without windows.

No, I HAVE to have a verandah. I enjoy our quiet time out there and I would feel so claustrophibic with no view and no fresh air.

I would not cruise with a verandah at this point in my life and I'm keeping my fingers crossed against any upgrades! My youngest (4) wakes with the sun. As soon as she opens her eyes in the morning and sees any light (sometimes just a full moon), she is up for good. She is always afraid that she is going to miss something. I hope that without any natural light we can get some sleep (especially her)! I am actually packing thick black trashbags to tape up a porthole just in case of an upgrade! If we end up with a verandah, I'm at a loss as to what to do. She looks for daylight through the crack in her room darkening shade at home and in hotels! Wish me luck!

Although I would love to cruise with a verandah, at this point in my life (recent college grad who is STILL unemployed) an inside stateroom is the only thing that I can afford/go completely broke for :teeth: . So for me it comes down to 1. Go on the trip of your dreams and don't have a window or verandah :cloud9: or 2. Don't go on the trip of your dreams at all :sad2: . Easy decision huh?

Well, hopefully I will be able to have a verandah someday...I'll be sure to let ya'll know.

We have done the inside room and now with this upcomming cruise we have a verandah! :cool1: So I haven't experienced it yet! So I may have to change my vote!
