You will notice that some of the meet posts have been locked. I think that if I lock a meet announcement or planning thread after the date has come and gone, or if it is cancelled, it will cut down on some of the confusion to people looking for a meet in their area.

You can't accidentally post to a locked thread and the locked ones will eventually settle at the bottom of the page.

What do you think? I didn't want anyone to think I was locking anything because it was out of line so I thought I'd better say something.

We could help with that too. If we start a thread and it's not useful anymore, we can try and make sure we ask that it be locked.

I can only see one problem with locking threads too soon after the DISmeet. Sometimes it's nice to post pictures of the event with the original thread (although I suppose that it might be easier to post photos in a new thread after the fact).

I'm willing to go with whatever you decide. Afterall, you are the one spending your time to make this a better board. And I appreciate all your efforts and ideas.
 
I was thinking, John, that the photos would work better if they were separate from the planning thread. That way they can be indexed too :)
 
On this (somewhat) I think it would be nice to have a "FAQ" thread stuck near the top. Explaining the standards for posting and how threads will be indexed (and locked if applicable)

It will let people new to this forum know how to post thier threads about meets so that they get the best turn out they can.

Just my humble idea (not quite like all of nativetxn's),

Thank goodness Kath has the kind of mind that loves to organize... I am so bad at that and with moving and packing to two locations, I am here reading but am so caught up in the move I am not much help to her.. We appreciate any and all suggestions any of you have.. Thanks Kath for being you.. :) :)
 
Mike, I think that's a great idea. I've been thinking about doing that, I was waiting to see if adding that "computer friendly" date was going to be too confusing or not.

Do you think adding that date to the subject line makes it easier to find things or does it make the board look "busy" as in "messy" or confusing?
 
Personally I like it. But then again being a programmer I knew right away what it meant and how it could be used in a sort. So I may not be a good one for answering if this is straight forward or not.

I think it is worth it to be able to sort by the thread title and get all the meets in order.

I think you are right, Mark, about the computer friendly dates.

I may not be able to throw a FAQ together and get it posted before my trip. I leave for Orlando about 7am Monday morning. If I don't get it done before I leave, perhaps I will be able to work on while I'm there, then again, maybe not. I don't mind sharing my time...I just don't like to share my WDW time :)

Marsha, you have just been runnng yourself into the ground. I know you will be relieved when all this new house, new apartment, moving stuff is all finished.
