Are you tempted to sale your points?

With the asking price of resale contracts going up ( just read about BCV asking $90!) I was just wondering if anyone is thinking of selling.

After waiting to buy our points for 2 years I'm not giving them up but I have the feeling that my DH has been doing a little number crunching.

No...but, I'm trying to buy as many as I can!!

NOOOO!!
:goodvibes

I love my points!! I know you are not supposed to get attached to material things (I'd never make it on the Apprentice) but my ship would have to be sinking like the Titanic, and I would hold onto my kids with one hand and my points with the other! :rotfl2: Okay maybe half my points, so I could throw Dh a lifesaver!

I admit that I've been crunching a few numbers. We bought at $65 per point, so even after paying the sales commission and the taxes on the gain, we could still net quite a bit more than we paid.

That said, I'm not ready to stop going, I would never pay even the discounted rates for DVC accomodations and I'm so spoiled that the prospect of staying in a "regular" room just doesn't appeal. Guess I won't be selling. :teeth:

Best wishes -

With 185 BCV points, its crossed my mind. But it keeps crossing over and out. I'm not ready yet.

Nope, I paid $51.50 per point at OKW...I've certainly received value for my money, and I intend to continue going to WDW and using my points for years into the future. If I sold my points and decided to pay cash for stays at WDW resorts, sure, it would be a short term gain....but in the long run, I think I'm better off keeping and using my points.

All our points are at OKW...but even if they were at BCV we wouldn't sell. For that matter we intend to purchase more OKW points soon. I suppose everything has it's price but $90 or even $120 wouldn't be it for us.

For our needs and desires the quality, flexibility and convenience DVC offers can't be beat. Consider us long term residents.

Honestly, yes...some of them. I have 100 BCV points I was supposed to sell a year ago when I bought 100 BWV. I think I might put them up when I get back from WDW next week.

I must admit I have been number crunching too. The maintance and taxes seem to keep crawling up and we have just not used our points the way I had thought we would. I'm doing good to get banked points used before I turn around and bank an entire years worth into the next year. I have been on this trend for several years now. Renting just seems like a pain so I'm toying with the idea. When we bought we paid $67 per point.

I have some points I might sell, but they are HH and aren't going to bring that much money. I think I am actually a little high in points and I won't ever use those HH points at HH.

Well, yes and no. We're thinking of selling our VWL points, but then we'd buy OKW points (DH is one of those "Fanatical OKW people"!) And it appears that VWL points are going for more than OKW, and we may be able to buy a few more OKW points, and thus come out ahead point-wise. Only one problem holding up our plan-we still have a loan on our VWL points, so it would be messier than we want to get involved in until our loan is paid off. But then, we'll almost definitely sell.

Nope, not me! Holding on for dear life and trying to figure out when to use them next.

I really want a :mickeybar !

Gonna have to pry my points from my cold, dead fingers! (or maybe they'll just expire in 2042) :teeth:

sometimes - but I love DVC resorts - however in July I am staying AKL for 2 nights(fri/sat) got a postcard then going to VWL.

LOL, I was just telling DH about the recent sales of BCV contracts. But we couldn't give up our BCV! We have an "extra" 150 point OKW contract we might give up to help with a move to FL in a few years, but for now it's pretty stripped.

I have considered selling :sad2: We are in the process of selling our house and going to build, and then I find out last month that I am preggo. Since the baby was not in the budget and can't do anything about that (I am excited-my kids will be 8 and 11 when the baby is born). So we are considering on selling or renting out our points to offset some costs. If we do sell it will be for only a season--would buy back into when the money isn't as tight--that will never happen--but we love DVC.

Just like my wife....not till death do us part!!!

Reading the responses here explains exactly why the prices continue to go up-- even with a diminishing return due to the expiration year, the rpice of these DVC points will continue to go up-(for at least several more years) -- Combining the fact that Disney fans are really fanatics with Disney's ROFR- the value of the DVC points will continue to rise.
