Are you Shopping on BF if Yes Where???

I am in need of a new crockpot, so I might go out. It all depends on what hours I work BF.

No, there is nothing I need to inconvenience others holidays. My husband worked for 10 years at Walmart before BF got totally out of control and already had to be in store at midnight, thus ruining every Thanksgiving. Same thing at Christmas.

Good luck to those going out. If I shop at all it will be online at a regular time.

Back before people became crazy on BF my dad used to take all of us to a mall that day.

The last couple years I have gotten up as usual and go over to Target. Our Target isn't crazy, it's basically a slightly busier than usual day with piles of stuff on sale all over. I take the kids because it's not that bad here.

I am doing Thanksgiving for about 20 people on Saturday this year, so Friday will be a lot of baking and food prep around my house. (we like to be all crazy and do everything totally homemade, down to baking our own stuffing bread)

We know what we want but have not decided the order we are hitting the stores. We will be going to the PX for a 3D TV, and a Mac laptop and some xbox games. We want the xbox deal at waltmart. JCpenney for the snow glove and that is about it. I need to buy two kindles for gifts but are not sure what the best deal is yet. And we always go to waltmart and target for some DVD's. This year I am planning on putting a bluray in every stocking so we will stop at target to pick some of those. I might buy a bluray player for gift but have not decided yet.
Total saving BF
$300 on the TV it includes 4 set of glasses
$200 on the computer
$60 in games
$30 in blurays
$150 on the xbox
Total savings $740
Hopefully we save at least $10 in each kindle and if we decide to buy the bluray player is another $40.

I love Black Friday!

I'll be at Kohl's by 5 am. From there it's on to Old Navy (same parking lot) then a quick breakfast at Dunkin Donuts (ditto.)

From there it's on to the local mall-- Target, Hollister, Disney store, Old Navy and whatever else I feel like.

I'm home by noon.

I tend to avoid the real big Black Friday standouts. A decent amount of my shopping is done, and I'm not in the market for any of the real Big Ticket items.

But I love the palpable excitement in the air on Black Friday. It's such fun!!!

I really wanted to get to Best Buy for the 42" tv for $199 but the closest one is almost an hour away, and since they hand tickets out you have to get there hours early and wait.
I plan on being at walmart at 10pm to get the 10 pm deals and possibly get the 32" tv that will be on sale.

I love black friday but funds are definately going to be tight this black friday!

Aliceacc, just an FYI--sounds like you do not know that Kohl's is opening at midnight this year. If you arrive at 5 a.m., most of the doorbusters will surely be gone. Almost everything is opening at midnight, and TRU and Walmart are both starting at 10.

Personally I am bummed about the early start times and I think it's lame. All of those people who work at those stores have to put up with so much from customers, and now they have to interrupt their family time on Thanksgiving to get there earlier than ever.

I am still planning on going out because it's tradition, but I don't feel the same about it this year. This will probably be my last BF. I have already gotten a lot of good deals online in the past few weeks--deals that are better than what is coming out in the BF ads. If you keep an eye on the trends, in the past few years retailers have had better deals in the first week of November than on BF. For the past 3 years, Best Buy's *BEST* laptop deal has been in the first week of November. The year is no exception!

Thanks!

No, actually I don't try to get anywhere for opening. I live fairly close to the place where that Walmart worker was trampled to death a few years ago. It's the excitement I love, not necessarily the best bargains.

But I do appreciate the heads up :)

My internal clock has me up fairly early. I don't set an alarm, and I'm normally still at the store (after a tea stop at 7-11) by 5.

i don't usually go out on BF, i just get up around 2:00am and get what i need from wal-mart through their website, then i go back to bed.

however, this year, DD14 NEEDS a new TV for her bedroom-hers is just about shot, and, of course, if you want a TV, you have to stand in line. so, i may just be waiting in wal-mart for hours on thanksgiving night.

other than that, i'm just going to grab some PJs and MAYBE stop in old navy, IF i'm already out. my nephews want money and i've already got gifts for my parents and DFIL. just gotta find something for DMIL.

Is she by any chance a Vera Bradley fan?

4 of their patterns are 50% off at their website this weekend.

she IS a fan, but we just bought her a new purse for mother's day. i tell ya, i'm totally stumped. not only can we not think of anything she wants/needs for Christmas, but her birthday is this coming friday, and we don't have a birthday gift yet, either!

My mom is 81 and my mother in law turned 86 yesterday.

I'm going to Trader Joe's and putting together a basket of soups, jellies and other edible goodies.

It's a long winter; I figure some different foods might go over well.
And if they wanted to have their friends over for a cup of tea, they'll have something to nibble on with it.

Last year I got each of them a box of papeback books.

The midnight openings are really messing me up, so I'm not sure what the plan is at this point. Normally we just head to the mall in the wee hours but between the midnight openings and the not-so-great deals I'm not sure it is worth doing. Target is a maybe; they've got the best deal on the iPod Touch DD10 wants, but Radio Shack's offer is almost as good ($30 gc instead of $40) and the one in our little town is much less crazy than hauling into suburbia to hit Target.

I do wish we had a Toys R Us closer; their iPod offer is great ($50gc) but they're opening at 9pm and it takes me an hour to get there, so there's just no way I could hope to be there before they sell out.

okay, i changed my mind about buying her another purse...the 50% off convinced me to buy her one, lol.

BF to me is like hunting is to men. I plan what to get, map out my strategy, go out early, and hunt down my items ruthlessly. The hunt on BF is a thrill and a competition with everyone else. Plus I save money.

There is not as much this year as years past that I want to get. I really hate the 10pm and midnight sales. I would much rather get up and go shopping at 4am. I do want a few things at each store and I am trying to figure out if I have to be there when a store opens to get non-electronic items.

I go out for the fun of it. My mom and I have been going together for years!!

I know we'll go to Penney's for the Disney snowglobe and I always get DH some tools at Sears.

Oh, and Bath and Body Works! I cash out rewards points on my Chase Freedom throughout the year for gift cards to use on Black Friday!!

Ok I just ToysRus is opening at 10PM on Thanksgiving! I think I am going to get to sleep this year. So if Toys opens at 10 then Target at Midnight.... I might get to sleep.

The times are throwing me off this year, but I'm definitely going out. And I'm DEFINITELY hitting WalMart first thing. The Wii is going to be $99, and ours was recently fried by a lightning strike, right through the surge protector. $50 is plenty enough reason for me to get out on Thanksgiving night. I'm liable to hit Kohls right after, then head to JC Peney to wait for them to open.

I am NOT trying to spoil your fun, but may save you a little money. Wii's have there own surge protection IN the system itself, so after a power outage or "surge" all you have to do is unplug it from the wall AND from the system - wait about 30 seconds then plug everything back in and it should work. (we thought ours was GONE after a storm, when I asked the manager at Gamestop and told him he explained the surge protection to me and said EVERYONE comes in thinking they are gone when they really just needed to be "re-set". He also said he has NEVER seen one that didn't come back after unplugging everything.

It worked for ours, I hope you try it and it works for you, unless you just WANT to get a new one.

Our Target is like that, too. Not crazy, just busy, with LOTS of people willing to help. They usually have LOTS of inventory, also, unlike some other stores. I usually do WM online, hit Target, Big Lots and then Walgreens (which NO ONE goes to!) and last but not least, Sam's Club.

I'm ticked about the midnight opening, I am a MORNING person, not a night person so it'll be a trial for me.
