Are you required to tip for room service?

I keep hearing. "If it wasn't for these boards, I wouldn't know x yz". Definitely true for aspects of DCL ins and outs. This is 2017, and we have the entire internet to answer customary or expected etiquette or niceties questions. Heck, I traveled the world before (gasp) the intenet was in common use. There's a thing called guidebooks or travel books to answer all these questions. When I was a teen. I knew to tip my hairdresser and cabbies. I think at this point if we're not seeking out answers to these types of questions , perhaps we are of the mindset of too bad, so sad. I will also bet there are many, many folks who don't even tip the expected gratuities DCL spells out. Some may be feigning ignorance, i think some people just won't tip.

I had two coworkers that cruised DCL and I tried to point them to the site and they wouldn't do it. One really needed the help, or should have asked me questions. They had a gluten free child, I am gf too, and they limited there eating because they were unaware of all the options available too them. A lot of people aren't planners and researchers like all of us, they just wing it for better or worse.

Of course, I hear you. I had a similar experience where I had raved about DCL so my.neighbor went with her extended family. I gave her my recent Passporter and told het about this forum. They just winged it as well and literally the best they could say upon their return was "at least the ship.was clean". Sometimes it's what you make of it.

But my response is in reply to people that are on these boards, so I'm guessing they *are* looking for info. It seems some don't like the answers to the questions they're asking is all I'm saying, even though these answers are echoed elsewhere in.different settings. But, to each his own. I just try put myself in others' shoes, in this case, the people delivering room service.
