Are you Proud to be an American?

I am remorseful that I felt so antagonistic at one time, but now I can finally say, with confidence and reverence, I am proud to be an American!

YES

I get very choked up when I hear our national anthem and America the Beautiful. I am the very proud mother of a new police officer - he graduates from CJ academy on Friday. He loves his country and wants to make it even better:thumbsup2

I am thankful, grateful and feel blessed to be an American. Proud? I don't know, I often think of pride as a negative. Plus there are times I am rather embarrassed by some of my fellow Americans and some American policies. But then the fact I can feel and say those things also makes this country great.

Thank you, you expressed my feelings exactly. I'm thankful and grateful to be an american, too. But the song still makes me weepy because it focuses on all the wonderful things about our country that I am proud of, but the sentiment that it expresses to me is my gratitude not pride, if that makes sense.

And I'm proud of our women's world cup soccer team tying North Korea today!!! Go USA! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Darn straight I am!:thumbsup2 ..and my father and mother...and their parents before them...and their parents before them.....

I think you can be proud to be an American because of the great things we do and of all the opportunities availble to all that aren't in many other parts of the world *and* be embarrassed at the same time. They aren't mutally exclusive.

I don't understand how you can think pride is a negative. :confused3

Yes, I feel very lucky to be an American. I have never been to another country that I would consider moving to or wish I were a citizen of.

:thumbsup2 Darn skippy I am.

<---Just as proud as I am of this too.

Read the bible, it's one of the seven "deadly" sins. ;) Many mentions of pride in the negative sense. That has just always stuck with me. Pride has been many a man's (and possibly nation's) downfall.

You bet! It is the best country to live in by far in my opinion! I get so teary when I go to parades, especially Memorial Day parades. It can actually be embarrassing. It's just so in my core! I am so thankful for all of those who have stood up for this country starting with this country's origins. :goodvibes :cool1: :yay:

It isn't one of the 7 deadly sins for nothing. ;)

I always feel blessed to be an American. I do not always feel proud to be an American. I do love this country.
