Are You planning a trip to Disneyland in December?

I am thinking about a meal or maybe just dessert at Cafe Orleans. Wondering if I need a PS or could we just show up? This would be between the 10th and 14th.

I called Disney Dining to make reservations for our trip next week. They are in fact giving the spoons out now, it started the end of September per the rep, and your bill must equal $35 or more.

We're having lunch there before our Halloween Tour Saturday afternoon :cool1: I'll post a picture once we're back- I'm super excited to see what it looks like!

That is exactly right. Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. I have not been on much lately.

Made my 1st PS for our xmas trip today...the most important one: Goofy's Kitchen Brunch for DS's 1st Birthday!!! :cool1::cool1: I was stoked that they are open until 2 on a Friday!! :woohoo::woohoo: We are heading straight to the DLH when we get to town (unless we decide to leave super early). We will only have an hour to eat, but that's all we needed last time. Ordered his birthday cake too!! Now I need to figure out when I'm going to reserve some loaded potato soup at Carnation Cafe!!! :yay::yay:

DH and I are headed to SoCal after Thanksgiving and have decided to do 3 days at DL--Mon, Nov 30 to Wed, Dec 2. Pretty sure we'll be using points and staying at the Fairfield that is a few miles north in Placentia (have stayed there before--could see the fireworks from our room).
So excited that he agreed to 3 days (even though I know that he'll really only do a bit more than 1/2 day each day) and hoping to do the mornings, rest in the afternoons and return for late afternoons/evenings.

I love DL with all the holiday decorations and holiday rides--am very much looking forward to it :)

How can you do half days with the park only being open 10-8!!! My kids don't get the luxury of an afternoon hotel break on short days! :rotfl:

We're going to be in SoCa 12/11-14 and need to plan a day trip to DLR. Does anyone know why 12/12-13 are considerd "peak" season? Is there something going on those dates I don't know about? And if so, would 12/13 be the best choice for a day at the parks?

Thanks!

All of Christmas is "peak season".

Dec 12th is a Saturday, and it's Christmas season. Fri-Sun is considered peak. I am going Thurs/Fri to avoid the crowds at least some of them.

I'm talking about this from the WDWinfo DL section:

2009 Disneyland Season

Disney's Grand Californian Resort & Spa
Disneyland Hotel
Disney's Paradise Pier

Season Dates:
Super Value: 1/06/09-2/12/09, 8/30/09-9/24/09, 1/03/10-1/04/10

Peak: 3/27/09-4/18/09, 7/17/09-7/18/09, 7/24/09-7/25/09, 7/31/09-8/01/09, 8/07/09-8/08/09, 8/14/09-8/15/09, 11/24/09-11/28/09, 12/04/09-12/05/09, 12/11/09-12/12/09, 12/18/09-1/02/10

Only 12/11th (a Fri) and 12th (a Sat) are listed in PEAK, not 12/13. Would you assume based on this information that Sunday 12/13 would be less crowded? Or are they only referring to 12/13 NIGHT as this is resort info?

Thanks!

I would read that to mean the hotels are at peak season for the NIGHT of the 11th and 12th. The 12th is blocked out for So Cal APs and the 12th and 13th are blocked out for So Cal Select APs. That will help somewhat, thought it hasn't done too much for the October weekend hordes. We will be arriving the evening of the 8th and spending the 9 - 13th in the parks. I'm planning on getting most of our rides in on Wednesday and Thursday and then Friday, Saturday, Sunday mornings. On the second half of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we'll be doing more shows, tours, riding anything we have a Fastpass for, and any other kids-deem-worth-the-wait rides. I'm expecting the weekends to be crowded, but I don't know that they'll be as packed as what we've been reading about these October weekend crowds!

Based on that info I wonder if the 12th would be the least crowded of the 2 weekend days since the 12th is blocked out on both AP's?

Yeah - I'm from a rope drop to lock up family--but my DH is NOT--the last time he had a 3 day pass and only went one 'full' day and one 1/2 day... He does understand my 'need' for Disney time so I just go with my sister and her kids or my mom or friends (I live in Utah but have an annual passport most years)--so I'm excited that he is actually going to try to do at least a few hours each day :)

He is quite excited to have lunch again at BB--one of his favorite things from our trip 3 years ago :) So - until he is 'converted' (which he swears will never happen) I try to encourage him best I can to enjoy the magic :)

It will be our first year NOT going this year in many years :sad2:
You all will have so much fun it is beautiful!:santa:

Hi Everyone!

I'm excited to join the December gang!:cheer2: We made our reservations for the Fairfield Inn (guaranteed connecting rooms) for our family of 7. It will be myself, DH, DS 9, DS 7, DD 3, and the grandparents. We will be arriving from No. CA on the 30th and staying through 1/3. I'm planning for the crush of folks and I'm trying to figure out where I want to arrange PS. I'm thinking that I'll plan one character breakfast (Goofy or Minnie??), two TS lunch, and one BB dinner. The rest I think will just be quick food.

I've learned SO MUCH from the disboard, so many, many thanks to all the regular posters! You guys are the best!

Danika

DH and I are going Dec. 17-23, staying at the Quality Inn (walking distance + free breakfast + fridge/micro = :) ). We decided to go super cheap on the hotel, since we are in it so little time and are saving for next fall in WDW at AKL. It's been getting good tripadvisor reviews recently, so hopefully it works out.

Has anyone noticed that the Disneyland site has the park hours up now for December 1st and 2nd, but there's no entertainment posted? The entertainment schedule is posted for Monday, November 30th and I can't imagine the holiday entertainment schedule will change TOO much from the last couple of weeks of November. I wonder if it's just an oversight or if there will be a change?

Hey everyone,

We are changing our dates and hotel. We were going from December 12-16 and staying at HOJO, but since my parents are now joining us, we bumped our trip back by 1 day to December 13-17 to save some money (and ditch the weekend crowds) and are now staying at the DLH and spending more money!

Those fall specials just reeled me right in! :rotfl:

Do you think the crowds during that week will still be managable since schools are still in?

:lovestrucMy family and I which constist of 12 people... We are going 12/24 thru 1/3... I am sooo excited, we have done disney on xmas twice before and we just cant think of a better way to spend our xmas. Its a loong time to go but we figured this will be our last time for awhile because we have been at least once or twice a yr in the last 4 or so yrs. We all were just there in March(and the march b4 that). :eek:As much as this disney depravation kills me it gives us a chance to focus on our wedding and getting our own home. So I AM SOOOO looking foward to this trip!!!!:woohoo:
