My DH is a printed circuit board designer and he also writes programs for the company he works for. He loves his work and he's looked up to by his coworkers, supervisors and the company owner, so that makes him happy to know he's valuable to the company and his work is appreciated. He's very well paid, and that makes us BOTH happy because it allows me to be a SAHM.
He never has to work OT, he works 7:15am - 3:45pm, and he works only 25 minutes away so he's home by 4:30pm every day.
Even though DH has a "desk job" he's very handy around the house, he knows electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, and can do a lot of auto repairs. I have to thank my FIL for teaching him all these things while he was growing up, along with some thing he learned as an adult
Edited to add: DH and a friend of his also own their own printed circuit board design bureau, so that brings in extra income on the side. It's not steady extra income, but when they get jobs in to work on, he works from home at night and the $$$ is great. The money from his own company is what paid for our WDW trip in May 2001, as well as other family vacations we've taken!
