Are you happy with your spouses job?

I'm not married, but my dream husband is either a professional English football or rugby player.

Yes, he would travel a lot, but I would love to follow my husband around and watch him play in all his games.

Perhaps it is just me, but I don't watch men's sports for the contest ;)

Back to reality, as long as my future husband has a good job, is happy, and can support me and any children that we have, then I won't complain.

Thanks, pugdog. I guess it's what was called "computer science" in my day.

DH is a TV repair man and works for Circuit City - He makes excellent money and great Benefits and he likes his job so all is well here!:D

My DH is a machine operator in a factory....he likes his job and we love his paychecks!!;) :smooth: :bounce:

My husband has a wonderful job. He works in industrial HVAC and, although I worry about him when they are doing lifts, most of the time I know he's safe and I know he loves what he does. He makes wonderful money (as part of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union) and his retirement package is amazing. He does have to be on call every fifth week, but the pay check on those weeks is so good I have a hard time complaining!

Basically, he's happy so I'm happy. ;)

To be honest, In this economy and these times I am grateful we both have decent full time positions. She made a career change about a year ago and is thrilled with her position. If she is happy then I am happy. :)

My DH works for Sam's Club in an office position and he really likes it. The best part is that he is able to set his hours so that he is there to take my son to school everyday and pick him up a few days also. The downside is that he works every Saturday.

DH is a technical support manager/shift supervisor... he is at a very respectable company, not much travel, primarily 7-4.

Yes, he is up early... occasionally some OT at home, and yes, since he is covering others shifts. he does get a diferental on it.

But really, he is salary.. its a too easy job for him, but in this day and age the economy stinks!

My DH works in collision. He's very good at it. Unfortunately, he has two herniated disks in his back and the work is more or less killing him. He has to stay there though because it's what he knows and it pays very well. Someday he's hoping to manage a collision shop or become an insurance adjuster, just to save his back. So I guess I like it and don't like it at the same time.

DW works as an Independant Contractor training people on different computer systems. She currently is at a job for a local hospital that likely will employ her until 2007, and probably even longer.

She only works three days a week (sometimes 4) and spends the other 2 days being a SAHM. She makes good money and really does enjoy what she is doing. I think she would rather be an elementary school teacher, but she is not sure she wants to pursue that at this point.

This meshes well with me working in IT on a flex schedule, having Wednesdays off and working M,T,Th,F. DD Abby only has to be in daycare twice a week, and we can both be at almost every event at DD Brittany's school.

My DH is an engineer and he loves his job. I think that if your spouse is happy, you're happy. He works long hours and has a lot of responsibility but he wouldn't have it any other way.

He could make more money doing something else but this is what he's always wanted to do. I wish I knew what I wanted to do and did something that I was good at. And something that paid decently.

I hope that my children find something that they love as much as my DH. I've never found that in a job that paid money.

I love that my DH is so smart and so confident in his profession. He is very confident that he is a better engineer than most. (and I suspect that he is, he did very well in school and has a Master's to boot).

I am not crazy about what DH does. He is in sales and it can be unpredictable. When it is good it is very good, when it it is bad . . . well we just don't talk about it.

He wouldn't be happy in an office all day though.

My DH is a professor and he loves his job. He is so excited on the first day of the semester and thinks he is the luckiest person in the world to do what he does. And I love his job because he is able to be home a lot with his family. Not to mention upcoming sabbaticals and foreign exchanges.:)

DW is a maternity nurse, and will be an RN in June (as most of you know) She was a supervisor in the Alzheimers ward of a nursing home for 8 years and we both hated it. She loves her job now.

I was an account manager for 14 years with Discover Card, but I had to retire in Oct. of 2002. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. But when the Doc told my I could live to be 75 or live to be 45 it sorta made up my mind for me.

Now I am a SAHD (God that don't sound good) Ok now I'm depressed and feel like a looser!

You shouldn't be depressed and feel like a loser at all. Just think about the joy you get from being home with your children, the joy they get from all the time with their dad, and all the things you would miss if you were working all day. Lots of dads stay home now and it's a wonderful thing.

To mhopset----Don't feel bad---It is so nice you are able to be the stay at home parent. I was the stay at home parent in our family and trust me the working moms and dads kept me busy helping at school with their children let alone mine.

DH works at a local university, in the development office. He's been there for 10 years.

He's a little burnt out after fundraising for so long, but hopefully he'll stay until our middle child is out of college (6 more years). The best perk of his job is that his dependents are eligible for a full tuition scholarship at reciprocal schools around the country. Oldest DS currently receives a $20,000 a year scholarship.

DW made a big career change about a year ago..after almost 20 years in a city emergency department she is now an ICU nurse in the same hospital! At least I can never call her a quitter....
