"Are you done with that?!" A photo heavy, gluttonous, Jan 2012 Trip Report! NEW PG32

That meal looks amazing- and I am not the least bit surprised that Dallas and Rey wanted their food to be authentically as the chef prepared it. ;) (And is that tzaziki sauce on the burger- YUM! I love tzaziki sauce.)

And don't just sit around- come see me! :)

sent you an email...can't come see you b/c the car won't start without jumping it and the Durango is still at the shop. :sad2:

another great update. I am going to have to add Kouzzina to my "to try" list now! DH loves greek food. Everything looks really good- that sampler might be up my alley. I love that you see Illuminations almost every night from your room! :thumbsup2

I have also heard great things about their breakfast menu, so next trip we will definitely go back, most likely for breakfast! :thumbsup2

Coming out of lurkdom to let you know I'm really enjoying your trip report.

I'm mainly vegetarian, so loving the food porn from a completely different perspective than normal.

I also have plantar fasciitis - although I don't run, just enjoy hiking, so it's probably nowhere near as debilitating for me.

Two things that have helped, although not cured completely, are insets in the heels of my shoes to raise my heels up a bit when walking, and a pediroller, which I use every morning and evening to massage the muscle (it's also great for rolling out the pain after a long walk). My chiropodist also told me never to wear shoes or sandals (especially flipflops) that cause me to clench my toes even a little to keep them in place.

Hope you get it sorted soon, but on the bright side we get updates more often!

Wow soooo Kouzzina looks really great! We've thought about going there and seeing your food, we might have to give it a shot next time, especially if we're staying at Beach Club again! All of the food looks AMAZING. Isn't it funny how you can miss Disney food so much once you're home? :rotfl:

I'm sorry you're feeling down; we had a little case of the post-Disney blues, which turned into something else crappy for me due to work drama... The only thing that kept me combating it has been writing my TR, seriously. Well that and making sure to enjoy nights after work and our weekends and try to get used to real life again... OH and hopefully think about planning our next trip!

 though, it's never fun feeling down.

Loving this TR so far!!! Awesome!!!

Love what Rey did for Vday... He's a good guy for keeping the Disney alive!!

Answer a few questions for me please... The shirt he wore to AK... Where did you get it/Was it bought? If so where and please what exactly is the design on it... I've turned my head sideways trying to read it... :)

Oh yes, planning another trip always helps! We're having a hard time figuring out when and who would go on our next trip though, Rey and I are considering a 3 night trip to AKL, but we're not sure when we would be able to pull it off!

I made most of our shirts, his AK shirt was a mickeyhead with Animal on it (I call him that sometimes and he loves Animal) with his name and the year. Here's a closer pic:

I got the DISign from the DISign boards, here it is blank if you want to use it. I just added text for Rey's name/year:

Wednesday, February 1st- DHS day!

In my journal, this day is called MELTDOWNS & MAGIC day...but that happened later in the day, so you'll have to wait for that update! We'll just call this update: "Grumpy's Morning"

This was our last early rope drop morning and everyone got up and ready with no problem. The weather was beautiful, I think it was 79-80 on this day and sunny as can be! I had read on the DIS that they had stopped rope drop and were just opening the gates around 8:30-8:45, so we got there early. The DIS failed me a bit on this one b/c they didn't start letting people in until 8:50, which would have been fine, but the guys were complaining about waiting again. Grumpy! The girls were a little grumpy too, I tried to get a shot of them in front of the park and they were both glaring at me!

Needless to say, my first shot was right after we walked in. I thought some people might like to see what the new RD is like:
Disney20121340.jpg

I preferred it. It was much better than the running of the bulls RD they used to have, but there were STILL people running!?? Apparently my crew is more annoyed with others than themselves, so they were annoyed by this. Rey did get a laugh when we got closer to the hat and the couple in front of us were running a bit and a CM told them to slow down and walk...and then as we passed he rolled his eyes and said "there's another whole 12 hours the park is open." Rey laughed at that, which helped him lighten up a bit!

We walked up to no line at the Fastpass lane and got our FPs for later.
Disney20121343.jpg

The standby line said 5 minutes?!?! I've never heard (or seen on my app) it that low, I thought 20 was the lowest they ever had for TSM, so we decided to just ride. That 5 min que would come back to haunt me with Star Tours... I've never even been in the regular line at TSM, so it was fun to get some pics!
Disney20121351.jpg

It didn't take 5 minutes though, it was more like 15 or 20...which is not long! (try convincing my oldest of this)

After Toy Story, we headed around the back of DHS and it was so nice and quiet back there!
Disney20121378.jpg

In fact, we came upon Phineas and Ferb with NO ONE back there with them at all! That was really cool, we had never met them before. They engaged the girls and then waved me over since we were the only people there, I joined in the fun too!

Disney20121386b.jpg

After that we headed over to Muppets! I actually took a non-crowd pic to show how dead it is over on that side of DHS in the mornings! I savored it!
Disney20121388.jpg

Time for Muppets!
Disney20121396.jpg

Dylan sat down and a bench and said he wasn't interested. What?!?! This is where it all started getting to me. I think partially b/c in 2009 he was crabby and wanting to leave the park and refused to do Muppets just to be stubborn. This time he just wasn't interested? I felt like the things he COULD go on, that weren't thrills, he didn't want to. I should have just let it go, but something isn't as fun when you know someone is sitting outside waiting for you. I just moved on and we all went in except Dylan.
Dallas sporting his 3D glasses:
Disney20121392.jpg

So maybe it's b/c I had been so impressed with Philharmagic or b/c I have seen Muppets 3 times now, or b/c I was annoyed with my 17 year old sitting outside, but I just didn't enjoy it as much. We got up to leave and Dallas wasn't well. The 3D had given him a headache and he felt sick. He said he was ok to keep going, so we headed over to Star Tours! I've never done Star Tours, so I was excited, even though I knew it was likely to make me ill with the visual stuff. The standby said 15 minutes! Cool! ...or not. :sad2: Dylan put up an all out argument on this one. He said that TSM said 5 minutes and was more like 20 and he didn't want to stand in a line for 30 minutes. We couldn't get FPs for another 15-20, so it seemed silly to stand there arguing. He must have been convincing b/c everyone else said they could just pass and they didn't really want to go. *grumble* fine! :headache:

I was not pleased and taking on more and more of their complaints and issues at this point, but I just pushed on, I wasn't about to have a meltdown! We headed towards the hat b/c I knew there would be a show coming up. When did they put in this stage? I think it's strange no one mentioned it on the DIS! The show was starting in 10 minutes, so I TOLD the guys that I was sitting down with the girls to watch it. I suggested they could go get RnRc fastpasses if they wanted, so that's what they did.
The show was fun! It was nice to have something other than HSM, which is what it was before (although we liked that too) and they had some great dancers. I think we enjoyed the dancing the most.
Disney20121403.jpg

I thought it would be a good idea to get the guys somewhere quiet so Dallas would feel better and Dylan wouldn't have to wait in a line.

We headed back to the Art of Animation area, which I had heard all about, but never been to. What a little oasis! It was so quiet and when we walked in, the area to wait for the drawing class was right there with little benches to sit on. Dylan didn't want to do it. :headache: Dallas sat with us for a minute and then changed his mind and went outside to find his brother. WHAT?!?! Let it go, Karen. Let it go.
It wasn't long and we were let in. We sat down and the teacher announced that we were doing Grumpy today! You should have seen Rey's face light up! Grumpy is his favorite character, I think he was even wearing a Grumpy shirt! AND how fitting for everyone's attitude today! :lmao:
Disney20121409.jpg

The class was really fun, I have NO artistic talent (yes, photography, but as for making something from nothing...none!) and I thought the directions were fun and easy! Savannah, who is a total perfectionist, gave up and wouldn't finish b/c it wasn't right. Rey and Leslee finished theirs, but when Rey looked at mine he got mad?!?!? At first I thought he was joking, he was smiling, but after we left the building he seemed irritated and told me later that he loves Grumpy and he messed his up and liked mine more. I did like mine!

Disney20121413.jpg

We found the boys sitting on a bench and they seemed to be a bit better, but I thought what this family needed was FOOD! We headed to Sunset Blvd for some lunch! There, in front of me, was ToT, taunting me! This is what it looked like to the camera:
Disney20121417.jpg

this is what it looked like to me!
Disney20121417b.jpg

Will I finally ride it? Will my family lose the Grumpy and enjoy the rest of the day? You'll have to wait until the next update! I'm sure you'll be tortured about it all day! :lmao:

That is awesome! I don't have the talent/patience to do that, but you have some serious skills there!! At first I couldn't read Rey's name... I thought it looked like RIP... :rotfl2:

Thanks for clearing that up!

That would have been funny! Well, I didn't make the DISign, I'm not that good! I just photoshopped his name and date and there are these great transfer papers you can just print your design on and iron it right onto the shirt! It was pretty easy!

Ugh !! I hate those morning where everyone seems so out of sorts and try as you might, you just can't get them excited. Usually, with my family, it is one of three things. They are tired, hungry or not feeling well. And it is up to me to figure out which one since they won't SAY what is bothering them. Hope your day got better !! But with the meltdown mentioned, I'm guessing it didn't.

Oh boy...I hope everyone cheered up soon! Your Grumpy did turn out great! I still have yet to try the Animation Academy...someday we will!

Luckily it seemed to come and go and wasn't a constant downer for the whole day! I actually really enjoyed part of this day, the most magical part of the day and the meltdown were within just an hour or two of each other as you will see later! ;)

I have been wanting to try it forever and I'm so glad I did! It really must not be well known because it's way back in there. I cannot imagine during busy time being able to do it, they let so few in!

Haha! Isn't there always just that one theme park where every family has a meltdown?! Can't wait to hear about ToT...that's how it looks like to me, too. I always say if it was half that height...!

 Well, don't hold your breath about getting much more info about ToT from me! :rolleyes1
