"Are you done with that?!" A photo heavy, gluttonous, Jan 2012 Trip Report! NEW PG32

AHHH NO ToT?! I am a little sad, I won't lie! But it's okay, I would NOT have gone on it by myself either! :scared1: There's always next time! :)

Okay so, reading about the whole everyone being in bad moods... I'm glad you guys finally agreed to split up. Sometimes when you have a large group of people that's just what has to happen! Our next trip may involve more than just the 2 of us, so I know one of the first ground rules we are laying out for everyone to know is...

IT'S OKAY TO SPLIT UP! If some people don't want to stay or need quiet time, while others aren't done yet, just split up! It'll make everyone much happier and then you can regroup later! So definitely a good call on yours and Rey's parts! I wouldn't feel guilty though; it didn't seem like the boys wanted to be there and quiet time was just what they needed!

Glad you and the girls had a good rest of the time at HS though for that day! :goodvibes

Well, I have ALWAYS been cool with splitting up, but Rey has not. He was a little resistant when I suggested it, it's something about all of us being together as a family, but I think he realized that he made the right decision and was MUCH happier when he returned to the park after his break!

I took pics of the men's and women's restrooms. I love RRC. I have to go on ToT by myself because DS refuses to go with me. That is one ride he won't give in about and it is my fave. He always beats me on TSM. I guess its because I am old and he can pull that darn string faster lol. I am determined to beat him this time!

I agree, the villain stores have been getting much less villain-y as of late! Glad you guys had a good afternoon at DHS!

Oh man, I just couldn't go on my own! I REALLY hate the stomach dropping feeling, so I'm really worried about it, but I want to see the inside so badly and take pics, so I think that urge will get me in the end. I'll probably just need some convincing!

Love it! Glad Rey headed back to the park too! :)

Thanks! We were glad as well! :)

You would think they would cash in on how popular the villains are, but it seems they are getting more response from Vinylmations right now. Still, why not have a Villain store AND a Vinylmations store, ya know? :confused3

Loving this Trip Report, dare I say it may even be my favorite.of.all.tiiime:rotfl: and believe me I've been creeping these boards for awhile.

Can't wait to read the more, but also don't want it to end haha.

Double update coming up this morning for everyone!

Wednesday, Feb. 1st- DHS
Meltdowns & Magic (part 1)

Two updates this morning b/c there are so many pictures, I can't fit them all in one post! These two go together though, so read right through unless you like cliffhangers!

We left off with Rey calling while we were in line at TSM. He was on his way and we told him we would call and see where he was when we got out. I rode alone, I thought I would have to sit with a stranger since the girls were riding together, but I didn't. It was pretty easy to beat a score of zero. :p

When we came out, we headed towards the hat and as I dialed Rey, I saw him walking towards us! :lovestruc

We decided to get a snack, so we headed to Starring Rolls for something sweet! I got an amazing red velvet cupcake (OMG, this thing was crazy big and crazy good!)

Disney20121474.jpg

I think Rey got something as well, a cinnamon roll? I don't remember what Leslee got either? A brownie? I was so in love with mine that I didn't pay attention! :p This was so relaxing. It was really peaceful sitting outside and enjoying our snack.
Disney20121478.jpg

Savannah had some of her cotton candy. She liked it, obviously!

We decided to call the Dodge dealer about the Durango. We had put it off for a few reasons, the most important being that we didn't even have money for any kind of repairs until Rey's check went in the bank that upcoming Friday, so we had decided to wait until later in the trip. The Durango had been driving ok to the parks, just dying occasionally at stop signs, so we were thinking it was NOT the transmission. When I called the dealer, they were 20 miles away and said that we could rent a car while they looked at ours. Clearly they didn't get it and thought we were the kind of people that have lots of extra money (we were vacationing, after all) but when they told me it would be 100$ just to look at it, I said thank you and got off the phone. We just didn't have it and I trust the dealer that works on my Durango at home, so the decision was made to try to drive home. If we broke down, we would deal with it then and find someone to look at it wherever we were. You'll have to wait and see what happens with this!

After a nice relaxing snack, we headed over to watch the parade! Well, there was something different going on! I have no idea if this is something they normally do, but we thought it was great fun! They did a flash mob! There was a guy up front on a speaker who taught everyone the steps and the girls were too shy to do it, but it was a lot of fun to watch!

Disney20121512.jpg

After the flash mob, they had the 3 o'clock parade (but a little late!) We moved to a different spot b/c apparently a couple girls thought we were saving their spots while they were doing the flashmob and they came back and stood right in front of us. There was a CM that asked them to move up onto the curb and to not stand in front of people that were there first, but they just told him they were there first. He looked at me and gave a little roll of the eyes and shrug like there wasn't much he could do. No biggie, we just moved down the street, it was a better vantage point anyway!

We left the park after the parade. Rey hadn't really come back for THAT much, but he didn't seem to mind that we were ready to go. We headed back and straight to the pool, naturally! I can't tell you how relaxing laying in the sun is for me. I have a Vitamin D deficiency, and although I take TONS of Vitamin D, it does not have the same effect as actual sunlight, so I was grabbing every last bit of it I could! The girls went swimming!

When I came back up, I took a couple pics of the Art of Animation and how it's coming along! (no space for these pics on this post, I'll make another at some point just for these if anyone wants)

After taking a few pics, we all got ready for dinner and shopping! This was our last chance for DTD and the girls were ready with wallets full of money! They had both saved their own money and were ready to splurge! This was also the evening we were supposed to go to House of Blues. We had a coupon for 50% off, but we still had to pay OOP so we talked about it and decided to make a change. We all had an extra CS meal, since we hadn't had lunch that first day, and we figured we would save some money and just go to Wolfgang Puck for dinner instead! It worked out really well. What a great deal for a CS meal! Real plates, waiter who brings your food out after you order it...and good food! We ordered and then headed outside since it was so nice out! Ready for some food porn?

I had grilled veggie sandwich, it was outstanding! I also had creme brulle and found out that I don't really like it.
Disney20121623.jpg

Disney20121626.jpg

Dallas had it as well and liked it, but found out the following night that he likes Chef's of France creme bruelle WAY better (am I spelling bruelle wrong???) *shrugs*

Savannah had soup (squash) and salad, which was huge! She also had cheesecake, which she didn't care for b/c it was kind of "burnt" (I thought it made it taste really unique, but get why she didn't)
Disney20121620.jpg

Disney20121622.jpg

Disney20121627.jpg

Leslee had chicken noodle soup, but I don't remember what she had with it? Maybe salad too? I think that's why there's only one salad pic?
Disney20121621.jpg

Rey had the bbque chicken pizza and enjoyed it
Disney20121628.jpg

I have no clue what Dylan had!

Dallas had the chicken alfredo and liked it. I'm glad I made him get it. LOL...I kept telling him to get it when he wasn't sure what to get...
Disney20121629.jpg

Dinner was nice but then out of nowhere, my meltdown hit...

Meltdowns & Magic (part 2)

Meltdown time for Karen!

Leslee had ordered frozen yogurt for dessert, they have your waiter bring it to you after you finish dinner. She told the waiter she wanted twist and he came back with TWO, handing one of them to me and saying he just brought us an extra! I asked Savannah if she wanted it and she said yes, and then I asked if I could have a bite (NATURALLY?!?!? Isn't she following along with the trip report name???) I took a bite and she made just a little comment about how I ask if she wants it and then I eat it...and BAM...meltdown hit.

Honestly, looking back, I think I just took on ALL the complaints and comments during the trip and it built up to where the comment put me over the edge. I teared up, but no one noticed. I wasn't going to keep sitting there at the table crying, so I just got up and walked off. Rey said that Dylan joked about how I was off to take pictures, so clearly the kids didn't realize I was upset, but Rey knew. I went and sat by one of the trees and had a little cry. I texted my BFF, Hope, and just kind of tried to chill out. LOL, I have a picture of where I was sitting just by accident I had taken one!

Disney20121631.jpg

Dallas came over first, no idea why, but he noticed me crying and I told him I just wanted everyone to have a good time and felt like if they didn't, it was my fault. He told me that he didn't think anyone was having a bad time and that they were all enjoying the trip, so that made me feel better. Everyone kind of arrived at that point and they were all really kind and understanding. I love my family! :lovestruc

I pulled it together and as quickly as the meltdown had arrived, it was gone! We headed right into the Christmas store!

Disney20121634.jpg

Disney20121636.jpg

Disney20121639.jpg

We have gotten one ornament each trip. Hope even got me one when she came in 2010 when we had to cancel our trip. It took a while finding just the right one! They usually have silver, black, & white on them, which ended up being quite a challenge! After getting the ornament (it's a snowman with a mickeyhead, you'll see it when I do my souvenir post) and setting up the personalization, we were ready for some more shopping! The guys had waiting patiently while I was standing in line to get it personalized. I got a couple nice shots of them when I came out. Of course one of them I can't post b/c Rey was giving me the finger. :lmao:
Disney20121648.jpg

Disney20121647.jpg

We headed to World of Disney!
Disney20121714.jpg

OMG, was this really a Wednesday night, the first day of February? It was a madhouse in there! We lost each other a few times, but after quite a bit of shopping, we all ended back outside with our plethora of bags and goodies! Leslee bought a HUGE Stitch! HUGE! (pic at the end) I bought just the few things that I had planned on getting on this trip, a mug & a photo album!

The boys were done with shopping, but said they would just sit and wait for us while we went back to Once Upon A Toy. The girls were NOT done, in fact, when I mentioned leaving, Savannah got mad and said she was FINALLY feeling the magic and now I wanted to leave?!?! I certainly wasn't going to rain on her parade when she was finally enjoying herself! Off we went to shop more! After walking around OUAT, my feet were in a world of hurt, so Rey suggested I go out and sit down near the fountain behind the store. That sounded great! I sat down and immediately was sucked into watching a couple little kids run in the fountains. I sighed and thought that my only real Disney regret is not being able to go when my kids were little.

Disney20121658.jpg

What fun they would have had running in the fountain! and then the magic happened...

the girls came out of the store, saw that fountain, and there was no hesitation...they threw off their shoes and ran right in! I wanted to cry but I didn't, I savored that moment and just took it all in. Here these 11 & 12 year old big girls were, running in the fountain, with the twinkling lights in the trees and the Disney music in the background. I cannot express what a magical moment it was! THIS is why I love Disney. ANYONE can be a kid here. Sigh... here are the pictures

Eventually the girls got cold and were ready. They did pose on the way back in the spotlight from one of the trees. They were drenched, but so happy!

Disney20121710.jpg

We headed back towards the boys and then the car, but we had one more stop! I was ready to use my 4 snack credits on Babycakes goodies!

Disney20121719.jpg

I went with what I had already had, they don't have a ton of options anyway, and I was just so excited to have vegan/gluten free stuff! I got two doughnuts and two blondie cupcakes that I ate for breakfast and snacks the next couple days.

Disney20121720.jpg

When we got back to the room, I had a cupcake and a margarita and after the girls dried off and put on their pj's, I took a picture of the them with all their loot!

Disney20121722.jpg

What a day it was! Meltdowns just wash away when you are faced with so much magic. For me, it was the best day ever! We all went to bed with no worrying about rope drop the next morning...we were sleeping in! :woohoo:

Okay, I was wrong! This is the best update ever!!! I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner, SHOPPING and the fountains! Those pics are so neat. I just love Disney and how you can just chill at night, go for a swim in February and get VEGAN doughnuts! popcorn:: :lmao: about the finger pic.

Hahaha we had one of the red velvet cupcakes on our trip too! They're massive!!!:laughing:

Aww I'm sorry to hear about your meltdown moment! We have all definitely been there!! But I'm glad that the evening turned around so quickly! How fun that Leslee and Savannah splashed around in the fountain! We really are all little kids at Disney!

:thumbsup2 I've been researching other places for maybe a trip only Rey & I this fall, and I just cannot find anywhere that has such a variety of things to do like Disney does! and vegan doughnuts put me over the edge!

They were massive and I ate the whole thing! I paid for it a bit, but totally worth it. The vegan cupcakes were awesome, but that red velvet cupcake was to die for! Of course this is coming from someone who never eats cupcakes, so it could have been cardboard with icing on it and I would probably have thought it was great! ;)

Noelle wanted to jump in the fountain too, but we didn't have extra clothes and she abhors being in wet clothes.

Sorry about the meltdown, it can be overwhelming to be the planner and hoping everyone is having a great time.

Yep, I was just too worried about everyone having a perfect time...AND, I like to just let everything go when I'm there and it's hard to do that when everyone is pointing out unmagical stuff, ya know?

We warned the girls that they would be cold and wet, but we figured it was the end of the night and we were leaving anyway. They were chilly on the way back, but didn't regret it! Luckily I have leather seats in the Durango b/c they were SOAKED.

Those fountain pics (and the way you described it) had me tearing up!

I felt really badly that I didn't get your text right away but I'm glad you felt better so quickly.

:lovestruc It was ok that you didn't respond right away, it was over pretty quickly and just knowing I could text you was enough! :goodvibes

I had a red velvet cheesecake cupcake from Starring Rolls last time & it was SO good! I didn't realize there was a Christmas store in DTD. I bought an ornament from DHS last time we went. We didn't get to spend too much time at DTD last time so this time I'm going to make sure we do!
