The title pretty much says it all. Can you rent points to use to a cruise and would this make sense?

From everything I've read here, it is less expensive just to pay cash directly to Disney for DCL cruises. It is not a good "value" for renting points.

I'm not clear if you're an owner, or a non-owner.

If you don't own DVC, it would be somewhat less expensive to pay cash for a DCL cruise, compared to what you would pay to rent the points in the unlikely event that you found an owner who would rent points for that purpose.

As a matter of fact, OWNERS are often advised to rent regular DVC reservations (at resorts) and use the cash generated by those rentals to pay for the cruise. Many of us consider a DCL cruise a wonderful experience, but not a good value for DVC points.

I don't even think it's a good value to use your own points for DCL much less rent them! :scared1: While we do go on Disney cruises, we always pay cash (and then get a 10% discound ant onboard credit for the next cruise by booking it before leaving the ship from the most recent cruise!)

My guess is you'd be better off renting or transfering your points to someone else and using the cash to pay for the cruise.

We used our points for the DCL four night cruise several years ago. We bought the points to use, so we did the cruise. However, points for the cruise have gone up significantly since we took our cruise.

And to me the hassle of renting out a reservation for a non-member just isn't worth it.

But to rent a cruise from a member instead of paying cash is more expensive for a non-member.
