I am a singleton...always thought it would be fun to be a twin :confused3

Who on the Dis is a part of a pair(s)? Did they/do they run in the family?

My best friend has an identical twin.

She has weird allergies like I do and one day we were talking about them and I asked if she was allergic to X. She said, "I might be. I'm not sure...am I? I'll have to call Meg and see if we're allergic to that." They even have the same allergies.

I wish I had another me I could call up and ask stuff like that.

I always wanted to be one, I thought it would be nice to have a constant friend. Now I have 2 identical girls!
ID twins just happen, they are random, so they aren't inherited. Fraternal twins are inherited on the mom's side of the family.
So all the fathers who are so puffed up about siring twins should get over that delusion! It is the moms who are the overachievers!

I should have been. My mother miscarried my other half and didn't realize for a few weeks that she was still pregnant....with me.

I wonder if this is why I'm so weird? I'm missing half of me. LOL LOL

I always wanted to have twins, since I have identical twin cousins.

I don't have any children of my own, but I do have fraternal twin niece and nephew. princess: pirate:

I have twin SIL's - there is an evil one and a good one. LOL Is that normal?? Anyway, twins run in DH's family- there are 3 sets. His sisters both have 1 child- and they shouldn't have any more- they can't handle the one they each have. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am an identical twin. We are two minutes apart and I'm the other one. Twins do not run in our family (only fraternal twins are hereditary) so I call myself a freak of nature! LOL!!!!

I am not a twin, but always wished I was when I was young too. My step sisters are triplets. They were actually quads, but the only boy died when he was a few days old, of an aneurism. :( And no, my step mother didn't take fertility drugs. They were just freaks of nature.

There was some funny stuff about living with them when I was a teenager, and they told me lots of funny stories about when they were younger before I knew them. Like...one is good at math and another is good at English, so they used to switch classes on test days. One NOT so funny thing was when the abusive ex-boyfriend of one (who wasn't living at home at the time) showed up at the door drunk, pounding on the door, screaming and yelling and demanding to see her, insisting that he had been watching the house all day (nice...scary stalker) and knew she was there. The guy was huge, too. It was pretty scary. He wouldn't even believe my other sister when she came down to prove that it was her who was there and not the other one.

*edited to add; OH, I did quote the other poster for a reason. Haha... Yeah, one of my triplet sisters was pretty evil, and the other two weren't. Maybe it is normal. At least, I thought she was evil when I was a teenager.

I'm a singleton but have quint cousins and 1 of them gave birth to twin daughters (fraternal).

I was a twin. My twin brother passed around the 21 week mark, I think.

Try to convince my MIL that twins don't run on the father's side of the family. She continually tried to tell us that because Aunt Helen was a twin that's why we were having twins!!! We finally gave up & let her believe what she wants.

I am singleton, have a singleton DD & then had fraternal twin DD's. They always say their friends get jealous because they don't have a "built in best friend"!!! They actually hang with the same crowd, so I think they like the fact that they can "gossip" with each other & not worry about it!

My sister was a twin pregnancy, my cousins are fraternal triplets, my aunt and uncle are fraternal twins, and my great aunt and great uncle are fraternal twins, (all on my mom's side). DH thinks I'm joking when I tell him one of the reasons I don't want to have another baby now is because I'm convinced it'll be multiples. :rolleyes1 I'm not ready!

Singleton here, but DD is a twin, I miscarried her brother. We always kid her that she was so hard to get along with that her brother bailed out before he was even born!

I'm a single but I have 2 surviving triplets, fraternal girls, their brother was stillborn. I also have an older single boy. Twins run on both sides of my family. Both my grandfathers had twin sisters. My mother is an only child, but many of her cousins either are twins or had twins. Early in my pregnancy with ds15, before ultrasound was done, they thought he was twins. They'd listen and find the heartbeat on one side, then pick it up again on the other. Turns out ds just didn't like them pushing down and would move to the other side when they did. They weren't sure what was going on until they finally caught it on ultrasound. I knew that boy was hyper even before he was born lol.
