Are you a native?

I was born in Manhattan and lived there for 4 years, I then moved to Brooklyn, NY and have lived there ever since.

I was born in Syracuse, NY, and lived there until I was 7. We moved to the eastern panhandle of WV and I have been here(or in the area) ever since, BUT even though I have spent the majjority of my life here, I still consider NY my home and would love to move back someday.

DH was born here in WV and grew up alternating between here and Germany(DFIL was military) I'm still trying to convince him to move to NY LOL

There's certainly no respect for it in my town! They call them "hoopies" or "townies" and it's always derogatory.

But, yes, I'm a hoopie. :rotfl2:
OMG! I haven't heard the term "hoopie" since I was in college. Where are you from???

I was born in Baltimore and moved to Lancaster County, PA when I was 1 1/2. Other than college and 1 year in Florida, I have lived here most of my life. I like it here well enough. I miss the way it used to be. Long before the tourists and city folk took over. Rather than a nice rural area, it has pretty much turned into a suburb of Philly. The one thing I do like about this area is how centrally located we are from everything. We are about 1 hour from Philly, 1 1/2 hours from Baltimore, 3 hours from DC and NYC, about 2 hours from the beach.

Two California natives, I understand you folks are almost extinct!

Zephyrhawk, I left Miss Info about 9 months ago for another job. I now work with semi sane people.

Well, I took the scenic route to get back here but I ended up living 10 minutes from my mom's house. :lmao: I moved away at 22 and lived in Germany, southern New Mexico, and then northwestern New Mexico and ended up right back here 18 years later.

Of course, my accent is all weirded up now so it does take me a while to convince the folks around here that I really am a native.

I wasn't born in Cleveland, but my parents moved us here when I was a toddler. I always say I've lived here my whole life, but it technically isn't true.

Since I've lived here all of the life that I remember (plus some that I don't), I think it is close enough.

But I plan to live somewhere warm someday and have Cleveland be the place I was from originally. I'll like Cleveland much more when I no longer have to live here. :)

I'm a native Houstonian, grew up NW of the city and I live here still. Lived in West Texas (Lubbock) for about 8 years for school. I inherited my grandparents' home which is next door to my family home, and it's been good--after my father died, Mom and I were able to help each other out and work as a team. I call us the Widow and Spinster Club ;)

But now I've gone and fallen in love with an Aussie, so it looks like before too much longer I'll be off on an Awfully Big Adventure to move to the land Down Under. I can't wait! :goodvibes

Born in Kentucky, raised all over the world and now live in Florida.

born in Scotland
parents are not from the UK (mother Trinidad, father South African)
spent 24 years in England, 4 years moving around the world
now last 5 years in the Caribbean

where do I come from ..... just call me Heinz 57!

Interesting.

I pretty much live in my hometown. I'm one of those that never left the area. I never saw a need to. It's nice being close to a big city within an hour's drive. Although....with the weather today...someplace warm might be nice.

I'm one town over but it really doesn't count as it's the "tri-cities" area, so I count it as all one big place even though it's 3 seperate towns.

I know my DD is thinking of going to California *only* because it's warmer than here from what I can gather.

Nope, I'm an Army brat (need I say more? ;) ).

Born in (West) Germany, lived in California, Rhode Island, Germany again, Georgia, Minnesota for college, moved to Indiana with DH for his grad school and now live in Massachusetts. I can't imagine living in one place my entire life.

Navy brat here. Born in La Jolla, CA, lived in CA, Hawaii, VA, FL, Italy and RI.

Then I married my DH who's a Marine and have since lived in CA, IN and now NC.

When people asked me I say I was born in CA but call RI my hometown since I spent all of my high school years there. Basically it was the longest time in any one place growing up.

Where did you go to college? I'm in the Pittsburgh area.

Family got to Texas in 1834 and never left. Still here with my kids being seventh generation Texans. No plans on going anywhere else.

I'm not a native of anywhere in particular I guess. I was born in San Diego, CA but we only lived there for a year before we moved. Then Peabody, MA for a year. Then Boston, MA for six years. Then Japan for six years. Then Orange Park, FL for five years. Then Niskayuna, NY for a few years (was in college at that time so didn't count). And now I've been in NYC for 20 years.

Born in Chicago suburb, grew up in Chicago, moved to Oak Lawn, now residing in Tinley Park. Although, Florida beckons . . .

I'm a third generation "Angeleno"! My mother, grandmother and I were all born in Los Angeles County, CA. I was born in the city of Long Beach but we moved to Huntington Beach ("Surf City, USA" in Orange County) when I was 3. I consider H.B. my hometown. I only live 20 miles south of H.B. now, just inland from Laguna Beach.

I was born in Iowa, but lived the majority of my life in Kansas City, Missouri. I now live in the Orlando, Florida area, but my Disney Castmember badge has my hometown listed as Kansas City, Missouri.
