Are you a native?

Never lived outside of Michigan. Made background checks for the Bar exam a lot easier.

In the town I grew up in we had a name for kids who had never lived outside of the town. We called them "lifers" and it was almost a term of respect. I was a lifer.

There's certainly no respect for it in my town! They call them "hoopies" or "townies" and it's always derogatory.

But, yes, I'm a hoopie. :rotfl2:

I was born and raised in New Orleans. Dh was born and raised in Pittsburgh. We've lived in Florida for 22 years.

Born and raised in Washington.

Married my neighbor.

We currently live on the same street as both of our parents.

Born and raised in North Carolina and I also live just one mile from where I grew up....so I never left home to raise my family.

Born and raised -except for college have always lived within a 20 minute radius- as do my siblings.

In my travels and talking to people, the question allways comes up "Where are you from?" But lately the question after that is usually "And where are you from originally?" People are allways a little surprised when I tell them that I am a born and raised Chicagoan and still living there. So a native Chicagoan/Illini.

So do you still live where you were born and raised? Or am I becoming a rarity?

Yes, and so does my DH...and my kids. :rotfl:

Wow you are weird! Hehehehee
I was born at highland park hospital. Lived in northbrook for close to thirty years before moving way out west to wheeling. then after finding the DW I moved to arlington heights.

So I am a worldly traveler comparably, I guess.

Mikeeee

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Now I live in Maryland. Apparently I still have my NY accent because most people can tell that I'm not from these parts.

Born & raised in Brooklyn too!!!!!!:cool1: Flatbush here!:thumbsup2
Now live in the Poconos PA!

Still live where I was born (Toronto) but we'll see what happens once I'm done with university! I'm thinking of moving out West to Victoria/Vancouver.

I was born and raised in Bloomington, IN (about 50 miles south of Indy). I'm still here. DH is still in school, and I plan on going back in 2010. After we're (finally) finished w/ school, we'll more than likely move because of the fields we want to go into (professional sports and law).

There's certainly no respect for it in my town! They call them "hoopies" or "townies" and it's always derogatory.

But, yes, I'm a hoopie. :rotfl2:

We hear townies a lot here.

Born and raised in Queens, NY. Went to State University upstate for college, then moved back to Queens. When I got married (for the first time), we moved to NW New Jersey.

Got divorced, then remarried to a NJ boy. We lived in Central NJ for a while, before moving back to the NW New Jersey town where I first settled when I came to New Jersey.

But I'll always be a New York girl. My accent gives me away in a second! :rotfl:

Born and raised in the same place I'm raising my kids. I live less than 1 mile from my family house. I only lived in one house until I moved out at 21. I have plans on moving back in there one day :goodvibes Its been empty for 2 years now and needs work done since my mom and dad are gone. My kids go to the same school I went to. I like living here (most of the time). I have no "real" plans on moving. Every now and then (mostly when Patrick's parents start crap) I do ask him to transfer out of state. But honestly I'm too chicken to make that kind of leap. I'm comfortable with my surroundings. I hate large cities. (anything over 10k is a city to me ;) ) I like my small town.

Nope, I'm an Army brat (need I say more? ;) ).

Born in (West) Germany, lived in California, Rhode Island, Germany again, Georgia, Minnesota for college, moved to Indiana with DH for his grad school and now live in Massachusetts. I can't imagine living in one place my entire life.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia and will be here till I die. I can't leave the city anyway, DH works for it and it is a requirement that you must live in Philly. It wouldn't matter I love it here.

DH and I were born and raised in Hawaii and I can't imagine living anywhere else. We love to travel, but I'm always happy to come home. :goodvibes

I like the fact that there is so much cultural diversity here. I grew up with friends from all walks of life and from different places that held onto their customs and introduced them to the islands.

There are a lot of people that live on Oahu, but whenever you meet someone you don't know here you play what we call the connection game. Sooner or later you figure out that your brothers-wifes-cousins-neighbor is someone you work with. There is always a connection to be found  .

I know a lot of keiki o' ka 'aina that have moved away for financial reasons; cost of living and living wages don't exactly match up here. I hope when my children are out of college they have the choice to move back home.

Born and raised in sunny Pasadena, California:sunny: but now living and raising family in the paradise of San Diego:beach: I am staying put for a long time..;)

Born, raised and still live in Florida!

I was born and raised in NJ.
Once I became an adult, I came to my senes, I moved to Georgia.

I love it here, and always answer "Georgia" when asked where I'm from.
If someone pushes the issue, and asks where I'm from originally...I'll admit that I grew up it Jersey, but only when I was young and stupid !! hahaha!!

I don't get the NJ bashing -- I have two cousins and a very good friend that moved from the islands to NJ, they're always telling me how wonderful it is there!
The Sopranos seem to live in a nice neighborhood. Whenever they need to hide a body it's always in some lovely forest area. What's not to love? :confused3
