So, we are scheduled to leave the 22nd for 5 nights at VWL. A few weeks ago I decided to extend our trip for another 2 nights (was able to get VWL also, after a short waitlist). Now, today, we said, hey, we have the points, let's see if we can stay a few more days. So, we are now up to 11 nights. The last 4 nights are at SSR, where we have never stayed. We are very excited, just have never stayed this long.

Oh, did I mention my wife and I will be traveling with our 14 month old daughter? This will be her second (yes, second!) trip to WDW, as we took her back in April for 5 nights for our first trip home to BLT. She did great the first trip, and seemed to enjoy it (as much as an 11 month old can).

Are we insane?? How long have you stayed?

Insanely giddy with delight, I'd say!:thumbsup2

Have a great trip.

We've done 14 nights on two different trips but not with DVC. We stayed at CBR with DD's. Was a little tight in the room but we spent most time at the Parks (we went full commando on these trips) Looking forward to our 8 nights at OKW in March '11 when we have more room and relax time planned.

Enjoy your time, it will be wonderful to stay that long.

our longest was 10 nights, and that was with a 14 month old, 5 & 7 yr. old.

It was awesome, and we all wanted to stay longer.

I think you will be fine!!

Enjoy it..:cheer2:

I've always dreamed of staying longer than a week. I think you are LUCKY, not insane. Have a blast. :goodvibes

Not insane....just plain lucky!!! I have always wanted to stay that long, the longest we ever stayed was 8 days and now that the kids are older, it would mean pulling them out of school, so that option is out for a while. Have a great time.

And don't you love saying that you have taken your child more than once before they are 5 y.o. I was chatting with someone at the grocery store yesterday about that. People said we were crazy for taking them so young. I said....well you don't own in the greatest place on earth!!! ;)

Agree with the others, not insane at all and I too, am jealous! Longest we've stayed is 6 nights and thats mostly because of DH's job. Plus he isn't as into it as I am and would never agree to more than that probably! Have a great time!

Last year we did a 14 night trip. I worried that it would be to long or just too much Disney. I was wrong.:wizard: We loved all that time away. This year we went one week in June and it was to short. We have another week between quarters this fall for another week but we will be back next June for 14 nights at least

It won't feel too long - especially changing to SSR at the end. I would recommend enjoying the resort at SSR at the end of your vacation. Your 14 month old will love the pool area there. The Donald Duck splash area is a big hit with kids. Also, the community hall has arts and crafts and a table set up with coloring for kids.

Yes it was insanity to only book 5 nights when you originally had the points for all 11. Thank goodness you have now come to your senses. Have a great time!

Nope, your not insane. You are a Disneyphile!

We just extended our December trip another 4 nights making it a 10 day trip. It's been awhile since we were there 10 days, but we can't wait. Our daughter will be 31 months by then, but this will be her 6th trip to Disney (2x Disneyland, 4x to WDW, including a Disney cruise) with another trip to DL scheduled for February. She was 20 months at her 5th trip. :)

:rotfl2: very good comeback!!

Thanks for all of the great replies so far! Makes us feel better about our decision (although in the end, we know we can't go wrong!)

i just asked my dh if it was crazy for me to join my parents for part of their trip - b/c i would only be there for 6 days!!:lmao:
in our eyes, anything less than 10 days is considered a short trip, 11-14 is average, more than that (like the month that many lucky europeons get) is just insanely glorious :cloud9:

having time to relax and enjoy all the amazing little things, no rushing for rope drops or waiting on loooooong lines, doing what you want, when you want......all benefits of longer stays:cloud9:

If you're looking for someone to sell you out of going... you are posting to the wrong board.. Maybe go to financial-weekly or smart-savings discussion boards.....
For us we went ...
.. 13 days in sept
...6 days dec
...12 jan
...6 days may
... planned currently 9 days in sept .
....9 in dec
...8 min may
...I would go -go -go. :).. and if given the option I would add a day or 2 to any of them.

:rolleyes1

We started with a 4 day stay at BWV during Food & Wine...which grew to 5 nights. THEN we decided that I'd go alone with DS before the Food & Wine, so it grew to 9 nights (four nights added at AKV)! The only thing stopping me from extending it anymore is points!

We're about to leave for a 13 night trip, so 11 nights souns fine to me. And our oldest DD had been to WDW 3 times by the time she was 15 mo. old. She's 8 now, and about to take her 14th Disney trip (some were to DL).

So you certainly don't sound insane to me, but now I'm questioning my own sanity.
