Are we allowed to bring a case of water on board?

Hi,
We are really big water drinkers. We are traveling for 11 days on the Fantasy this summer. Last year we were able to bring a case of water on the Magic in March. I was reading on DCL and it said bottled water had to be in your carry on. Last year we gave to the porters with our luggage and it showed up in our stateroom. Have things changed or has anyone had any experience with this recently? TIA!

Porters will take anything - they want their tip.

But you are supposed to carry on any beverages you are bringing - including bottled water.

Should the water break, you will be held responsible for any damage to other's belongings that the water causes (and yes, there are people who travel with clothing that "even just water" can ruin).

Yes, you can bring bottle of water onboard. As always, Disney rules are that they must be in your carry-on.

Have people experience otherwise?...........yes. Just like have people gotten by with running a Stop Sign?.....Yes, they have. But the rules still exist.

Thank you Dug....Last year I didn't even realize there was a rule when we brought it. We believed it was ok since the porter accepted it. I only saw the carry on portion when I was reading some things on the DCL site. I didn't know if things had changed in the year since we went. Appreciate you telling me.

Actually this has been the rule with DCL for a very long time, all BEVERAGES must be in the Carry On luggage when you board, including beer & wine. Bringing a case of water on in your luggage or just giving it to a porter could result in having it removed or taken by DCL. The rules are due to as has been stated already any leakage/damage done to other passengers luggage or items could result in you incurring a fee to cover the costs of cleaning or replacing said items. It's just good Cruising manners to follow this rule so you don't anger your fellow cruisers.

The easiest way to handle carrying a case of water (or other beverages) on board is to use any wheeled suitcase/tote/duffle to pack it in. Makes it so much easier.

That is what we do every cruise. Makes for a great bag to take home souvenirs or take home our last night PJs and toothbrushes when all of our other luggage has already been taken away

I would concur with those opinions as well. I am a big water drinker and can easily tell bad water from good, and the water you get on the ship is actually pretty good. So in my opinion, binging a case of bottled water on board would be a huge and unnecessary hassle.

Actually, we like to have a bottle of water on our night stands during the night for waking up thirsty. AND, we don't drink coffee in the mornings before we get moving; we drink a vitamin-laden energy drink that comes in powder form and has to be mixed with water. NOT having 4+ bottles of water available to us each night is a huge hassle for us. I'm not paying $30-$40 for a case of (nasty!) Evian or Dasani.

Just some perspective on how a case of bottled water (or 2) is a necessity and a hassle to not have. ;)

Why not bring along a refillable water bottle (or 2) and use that with the ship's water? Also saves on all that plastic waste.

We're huge water bottle fans as well and always bring on a case. We recycle at home and on the ship always, we too also feel it's more sanitary. Just as others said we make sure to bring it on carry on because incase it was punctured it could ruin our suitcase contents as well as others' contents. You can recycle the bottles on the ship too. The water on the ship is good as well but we prefer bottled water.

We split the difference. I find the water on board to be good but we like the convenience of bottles for excursions. Plus I have a thing about drinking from the bathroom tap, so having something easy to grab in the room is convenient. Last time we brought on a 6 pack of large bottles and that was the perfect balance. We put them in our wheeled carry on bags.

We have a nightly cruise ritual where we go up on deck to the drink machines and get a cup of water to bring back down to the room. I also like water at night and I transfer it to the glass in the cabin (because the paper cups start to leak overnight). It always the last thing we do before going back to our cabin.

I also have a thing about drinking from the tap....anywhere.....but I drink the ship's water from the dining room and from on deck.

I have also brought water bottles on board. A lot depends on our circumstances right before the cruise. If we have easy access to some water bottles to bring on board we do but I do not go out of our way.
