Are travel times REALLY this bad?

We were at the fort for 2 weeks leaving to come back home on 6/7. We took the bus every where. Sometimes there was a wait we usually alloted an hour and were happy if it was under that. One day it took an hour and half to get to the AK. However, we have a 2 year old who thought it was the best thing ever to be riding in the bus with out a car seat.

I still think the bus system is better then driving the truck and finding parking then having to find your vehicle at the end of the day. Just my thoughts.

No one seems to mind renting a golf cart for $300.00 plus dollars for a week.
But everyone seems to recoil in horror at renting a car for $150.00 to drive around on your own schedule.
Maybe its just me.

That's because a golf cart is a whole attraction, by itself!! They're fun! ::yes::

I never stayed at Riverside, I've always been at FQ which only has one stop. I would go crazy if I was staying at Riverside - it's huge. I'd rather have a long drive from place to place, rather than a lot of bus stops.

We plan to do the following from the Fort:

Drive to TTC, or boat to CW or GF and monorail (after brekfast) to TTC, then monorail to Epcot FW (or drive directly). Probably over an hour.

Drive to Y&BC, take boat to Epcot WS or Studios.

The bus stop at Epcot is WAY too far from anything. No matter where you stay, the door to door for Epcot is too long.

Drive direct to AK. We've never been to AK, so we'll bus at least once.

The transportation around the resort is as much fun as going to a theme park. Go to POR, take a carriage ride, then the boat to Downtown Disney. Do some research on ALL the ways to get from one place to another and have fun getting there.

I agree that the longer your stay, the less you are concerned with the length of your commute.

My best advice is to plan your commute around meals or activities. On the day we go to Epcot WS, we'll probably have breakfast at the Cape May Cafe - that sort of thing. That's my next phase of trip planning. I may not have the days worked out, but I'm going to pair up activities so the travel is fun and varied, and part of the attractions of the day.

I'm just wondering..what about taking the water launch to MK..and then taking the monorail to the ticket center, and boarding the monorail to Epcot. Would this be any quicker than the bus to Epcot? Since I've haven't done either, I'm just curious if this might be an option.

If your in a big-o-hurry, then drive. We usually take, and enjoy, the buses/boats/monorails, but last trip we were meeting a CM friend at AK and I did not want to be late so we drove. It "lost something"....

If you get real lucky and walk up to a waiting bus that pulls away as soon as you board :cool1: , you will not be far behind the person who drives, parks and rides the tram in.

But...if you watch each bus pull away as you walk up :furious: it could take a long time to get across property. Once, it took us all afternoon to get from DHS to FW.

Boat from DHS>EC, walk through EC (picked up an ice cream), monorail from EC>TTC, boat from TTC>MK,round-trip on resort monorail just for fun and then boat from MK>FW.....

Disney transportation is just a tool, use it to your advantage.
