at Port Canaveral the back up was security. Didn't have any back ups in San Juan.

I've only sailed out of Port Canaveral since they moved to the new online check in. Yes, it seems like things move faster; I've not had to stand in super long lines to get things checked, get pictures taken, etc. As PP said small backup at security, but not bad at all and that's not really related to online check in (you'd go through security either way).

Not sure about Southampton, but I would guess things should go smoothly if they're 'enforcing' PATs. That helps at PC so it's more of a steady stream than an onslaught.

I haven’t really noticed a difference in time at any of the ports I’ve been to. I’ve been to Port Canaveral a few times, New Orleans once, Texas once, Miami once, and Vancouver. If I was to spitball a projection of how it helps, I would guess that each cast member that is entering in families might get an extra family through an hour??? And if they have seven tellers, that would be seven more families through the terminal every hour, it would help with the big picture but it’s probably not gonna be felt by us.
And they might have taken that extra time and cut back on one cast member checking people in.

For basic check-in, Manhattan Cruise Terminal in '22 was faster than in '20. Took me multiple hours over several days to upload all the documents, but yeah, the check-in lines at the port were short.

Didn't change the fact that once we were checked-in, there were still several hundred waiting-to-board passengers in the Terminal prior to our Arrival Group #8 (and we weren't early!).

Still, better than 2020. Of course, the Magic was much less full as well. So, I dont know . . .it's never without some kind of snag.

I have noticed a difference in the process but I can’t really access if the total elapsed time from when you arrive at the terminal to the time you board the ship is less. I think it is.
