Are there still non bag lines to enter the parks?

Title says it all really :-)

I'd heard that no bag lines have disappeared recently, is this true? Since we no longer have a buggy for our kids, we don't take bags into the parks at all. In these days of magic bands and free water at counter service places, we just don't feel the need to carry anything else.

If they are still there, do people going through them still get randomly selected to go through the metal detectors?

No there are still no bag lines, but if you go through them I found you are far more likely to go through the metal detectors. But I will say that the detectors are not overly sensitive and therefore the metal button on your pants won't cause it to go off like in NYC.

That's great, thanks. I just like to pop my phone and my AP card in my cargo shorts and skip the lines. Are the metal detectors located near the bag search lines then? I've not been since they were introduced.

They still have the no bag lines and it does seem more likely that you will have to go through the metal detectors if you use that line. The metal detectors at DHS are directly opposite the bag check, but they are off to the side at the other parks. It usually takes a few seconds to go through the metal detectors since that line is usually short.

Just to note - my husband had a bag and was asked twice to use the scanning line. Let's just say he was not happy.

Depending on when your entering the park, the no bag line can be the longer line as there is only 1 person at a time getting in that way and most of the time it's everyone must get scanned. they mix up if they are randomly pulling people, asking everyone or only asking everyone from a certain line.

They do send people back from the scanner to the bag line for anything questionable that they want to look inside of.

I was there yesterday I have a bag and when through the meter defector all 4 times I went in the park but yes they still have the no bag line

Has anyone used a Running Buddy? It isn't really a "bag" but more of a pouch that goes on your pants with magnets, but fanny packs are considered bags, so...

In the past, I have used a small wristlet that could be considered a bag but it fit in my pocket so we always went through the "no bag" lines without issue. Now that you are more likely to be screened after going through the "no bag" line, if I were using either the Running Buddy or the wristlet, do these need to be removed to go through?

I would say it depends what is in them that may set off the scanners. I am 100% sure that pouches around your waist are considered bags, though. It is similar to having big pockets but that might seem suspicious to security if they somehow found out you were wearing a waist pack.

If it were under a shirt and didn't pouch out the shirt, you might get by with it. A guard can and might ask if they see the bulge and might send you back through the bag line or just ask you to empty it. I've gone through with cargo pants but had my phone in one pocket and a rain jacket in the other, causing it to bulge out and the guard asked me to empty the pocket then patted it. None of which was a big deal to me and I gladly did it. I saw a few weeks ago some people were reporting that there was a line for small bags at one of the parks but I'm not sure if they are still doing that. It would be nice if they did since those are easy enough to just hold open.
