Are there special incentives when buying DVC while at DL?

I am wondering if you take the DVC tour while on your trip at DL, are you offered additional incentives outside of what you would get if you are sitting at home and decide to purchase?

Second question:

We go to DL on average twice a year. I am thinking it is making sense for us to buy into DVC as we prefer staying on site if at all possible. I see a WDW trip in the future however I think we will spend most of our time at DL. I see other resorts are less per point that VGC however I am thinking the reservation window will be important to us....what do you guys think?

If you go there, and if you plan to stay at Grand Cal, I would buy there.

We did the opposite...I'm sure that at WDW we will only stay onsite (and the nicer the resort the better), but at DLR we are totally happy being offsite. So we left the Grand Cal points for others and bought BLT. :) (we bought once home from DLR, but got the same incentives as others...plus, back in '07 we got a $50 giftcard for having a presentation while staying onsite, and got 2 hours of free kid-care as well).

I do believe whatever incentives are going on are pretty universal whether you are at DL or WDW. There maybe different $ amounts for different resorts like there are now for referral incentive for AKV & BLT.

Like PP stated if you are planning on staying at DL more than WDW than definately buy at DL. It would be aweful for you to purchase at WDW and then have to wait for the 7 mo window and not be able to get a ressie. That would be a total waste of $. Also keep in mind there are a bunch of WDW DVC resorts so I can't imagine you would not be able to get a ressie at any of the WDW resorts at 7 mos out.

I have to agree with OP who said to buy at VGC. Although the off site hotels are perfectly nice and some are very close, I have gotten to the point where I don't want to leave Disney property once I arrive, and I love the Grand so it was a no brainer for me. I do think it will be nearly impossible to stay at the VGC at the 7 month mark (although I was also sure they'd be sold out by now, so what do I know). The points are high, but no worse than view rooms at BLT. I'm a DLR person also, and although we have a trip planned to WDW in January, it's the first in 15 years, so it's a kind of trial run to see if I can get what people like about it, since our last trip was more frustrating (not knowing the parks, busses, etc) than anything else.
If we still don't really care for it, we'll probably sell our OKW points.

Thank you all for your feedback. I am strongly considering doing this as I have been reading that people are concerned with it selling out (or you all work for Disney and have a good marketing ploy :lmao:). Obviously it is a big investment and I over analyze any purchase that is over $1000 as that is just how I am. ;)
