Are there really protesters at Ground Zero?

I heard on the radio that there are people protesting at the memorial service in NY. Is that true? If so I find that very sad and inappropriate. I know we are a free country and have the right to free speech and all that jazz, but really, today? There?
I just have to shake my head in disbelief sometimes. Sad, very sad.

Er.... what are they protesting?

I didn't hear all of it but one I heard was the CIA and I think about our soldiers being in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Had to come back to edit so I could finish. Silly cat.

If they're protesting the war, there are better times and places to do so.

I don't think they should be protesting anything. Not there, not now.

If that's true that is just sick and twisted.

I really hope this is not true, not today or ever. Ground Zero is not the place ever and today is certainly not the time.

That's just so wrong. There can be one day without the need for politics. Hopefully the President agrees and keeps politics out of his speech today. :thumbsup2

I have read that he will. I hope he does!!!!

Ahhh, lovely. Straight from the Fred Phelp's Book of Inappropriate Behavior. :sad2:

Whether or not one supports the war and various US policies and officials is inconsequential today. It is a day to show our respect and reverance for the incomprehensible loss of human life that occurred just a very short five years ago. The focus should be on those who were brutally murdered, and their loved ones who are left behind.

I hope this isn't true.

I thought of him when I saw this thread.

If this is true, it is so wrong. The family members do not need that today of all days.

I hope that is not true, but I wouldn't put it past some people.

To me that is hallowed ground. There should never be protesters there.

Did anyone else read the subject and immediately think "Anne Coulter"?

I thought of her because of her obnoxious rant against the surviving wives. I could just imagine her being media ***** enough to show her face.
