Are there really protesters at Ground Zero?

Hi all,
Yes,there are protesters at ground zero.Thats not a first there.Sadly some of these same protesters showed up at FDNY funerals for guys in my dept that were killed.A whole police force had to be there to protect them,today as well as at FDNY funerals.If you had to go to one of your best friends funerals would you want to see this.They even held signs mocking and making fun and disrespecting the FDNY at FDNY guys funerals,it took a lot of strenght not to want to beat the poop out of them.I even took a pic of one such protest,This was taken at a funeral home were 2 FDNY guys were laid out,soon after the sept 11 attacks.These morons should be ashmed of themselves,i can understand ones freedom to protest,but This was not the place to do it.

I have a simple solution, let's just stop giving them protection! I bet that would work in a heartbeat! They do indeed have the right to protest, but could someone cite me anything that says they have the right to an entire police force for their protection?

If, indeed, this is the Phelps crowd again they really want someone to attack them. The 'family' is full of attorneys who will sue the pants off anyone who comes near them. They're the lowest of the low, filled with hatred and much too obsessed with men having sex with men.

At some point during the discussion, it was thrown out there that there are Americans, actually, I think it said extreme liberals (but don't quote me), that hoped America looses, or gets what it deserves? I'm not sure, and I don't want to miss-quote. Well, someone said that they have never heard of anyone wanting America to get what it deserves...well, here's the proof.

I truly believe if someone gets to them, there will be no need for attorneys. IMO, they'd better watch what they're doing because they are angering a lot of people. I can't even believe they'd put their own families in harm's way. I'm really talking about the children who we know never really asked for any of this. They are however, raising the next generation of haters.

I will agree that most war protestors are on the left.... I hate the war in Iraq. The Fred Phelps group are the group that believes the war in Iraq ,9/11 and anything bad that befalls the US are because G-d hates America, because we *support* homosexuals....THis group is an EXTREME Christian group...I emphasize extreme because I realize that even the most fundamental CHristian on this forum would not support this man or this group,and I want it to be clear that I am not talking about you guys.
This group, Fred Phelps groups ,would actually fall on the Right,even though I have no doubt that most of the right find him morally reprehensible.
That aside...Ground Zero is a graveyard...The people there today are mourners...To protest on a day like this in unforgivable

I hope you didn't think I was aiming this at anyone or group in particular, because that wasn't my intention. I had mentioned it only because it was brought up on another thread. Unfortunatley I'm aware of the Phelps group and I think they are the lowest of lows. You're right, they would probably fall on the extreme right and I think you'd find most of us on the right distance ourselves from them as far as we can.

I wasn't, and if I didn't make that clear then I do apologize. As I just said, if this is the Phelps group, and it looks like it is, then I think you'd find most of us on the right distance themselves as far from them as possible. And I say most, because I'm sure you'd find there might be a few who would align themselves with this group.

Our local pittsburgh newcasters were at Shanksville, Pa for the memorial service today and said the protesters were there as well. The newcaster said it was the group from Kansas that protests at military funerals.

This is beyond disgusting.

I think the best way to deal with "people" like this is to ignore them Attention is what they want, and spending tv time, print space, and band with talkin about them is just giving them exactly what they want, and I don't think any of us what that! And that goes double for people confronting them in person, especially physically. Then it will REALLY get the media's attention. They may deserve to get the snot beat out of them, but it would only play right into their demented fantasy that anyone actually cares about what they think (if you could call it thinking...).
