Are there really any benefit or budget pros to using Gift Card at Disney?

What restaurants can you use Dinsey Giftcards at? Can we use it at Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe, or House of Blues? I know these are 3 places we would like to eat at Downtown Disney preferably for dinner but I have over $500 in Disney Giftcards :cool1: so I want to make sure I can use them where ever we eat.

Expanding on tkitty's post...

One of the hidden perks in my using Disney Gift Cards (versus other plastic) is that if you puchase the cards (or any retail/restaurant gift cards) from Kroger, you get double fuel rewards points.

For example:

  • Buy $500 worth of Disney GCs for dining, etc.
  • Get 1,000 fuel points for fuel purchases at Kroger
  • 1,000 fuel points = $1.00 off every gallon of gas for that next fill-up (max 35 gallons)

And for those who drive, you'll find Kroger stores with fuel stations all along the I-75 and I-95 corridors in Georgia (none in Florida).

Not a bad deal, if you ask me...plus, you don't have to wait for the online Disney Store to ship them...

Thank you for posting this. We aren't really close to a Kroger, but it might be worth it to get the gas perks.

Is there a website where I can go to find these gas stations? We tried something like this with our Sam's/Walmart card and we spent more than an hour driving around Orlando looking for a Sam's/Walmart with gas pumps. We really only fill up prior to leaving town and when we get ready to head back home, but it might still be worth it.

Yes, go to www.kroger.com and use their store locator -- those stores with pumps are easy-identifiable.

If you use a smartphone, you can also download the GasBuddy app (it's free), which will give you real-time pricing along your route.

We charge everything to our KTTW and then pay it off with the gift cards at the front desk.

For those who fill-up at Murphy USA stations on Walmart property, Murphy now has a smartphone app that helps you find them easily.

Also, don't forget, if you use a Walmart Gift Card for payment, it's an instant 10 cents per gallon discount through the month of September.

Our trip isn't until January, so that is no help now. I had my BB, but it still wasn't very helpful.

I have a Sam's Club app on my HTC EVO that is very helpful.

I do have a smartphone now, I will look for that app. We have a minivan and we can get all the way from home to WDW without stopping for gas, and then we have to fill up prior to coming back home. We usually stop on post on the way out of town, because we get $0.05 off per gallon with our Star Card.

Thanks everyone....we've already ordered the gift cards so really the visa gift card, Kroger...etc deals we'll have to think more about for next year. We are in Georgia, but a part of Georgia that does not have a Kroger. If they are pretty easy to get to from the freeway it may be worth it for us to do that next year....if they are still running that deal. I know we can drive about 40 minutes away to get to a Kroger to buy the gift cards...just not sure how long the gas perks would last and if it would be worth it since we'd have to get off the exits on the way to Disney and find them to pump gas to get the perks.

Anyhow...I received a shipping notice from Disney store and got all excited, opened it and it's one gift card...ugghh. They seriously are going to ship them all separately? This is going to be a long week LOL
