Are there exceptions for number of people on GAC

We're headed down this December, it will be our fourth trip. This trip we will be taking our parents with us. My son is autistic, and we have gotten a GAC for him each trip. Being that it is early December, the crowds are not horrible. We only use the GAC when we absolutely need it. Mostly we don't, but it has been helpful on a few occasions.

There are 5 in my family, plus my parents. I know that the rule is 6 people for a GAC, but I wondered if they ever make an exception. Has anyone ever had this experience?

Again, I'm against abusing it in the first place, I love that we have this in case we need it, but we don't whip it out every chance we get. But if we do have to use it, I'd love it if we could all use it together instead of splitting up our party.

Wow - I'm really curious to know the answer myself. I didn't realize they were only for 6 people and we have 7 (5 children and myself and my husband) - surely they won't split up our immediate family, right???

You can expect to be split up especially at shows. Wheelchair seating is limited so they usually ask one person to sit with the wheelchair and the rest to sit a row or two ahead or behind.

If you are concerned about being split on rides fastpass will help keep you all together.

If there is a reason why spliting up would prevent the person with the disability from enjoying an equivelent experiance then yes you are entitles under ADA to stay together. The 6 rule is to try to keep the system from getting overloaded but if you have a need just let the CMs know and they should be able to accomidate you within the limitation of the "event"

It all depends on crowds and how many people have recently entered with a GAC, etc. I have seen a party of 10 allowed on BTMRR right behind me... And I have seen parties split up.

If you ask at Guest Services, Sixundersix, I would not be surprised if they allow all 7 of you on the GAC since it is almost all children, especially if you have more than one person with a need/disability.

In shows, you WILL be split up. Usually there is a spot for a wheelchair, then 1-4 seats next to it. The rest of your party can sit in the row in front of you. In the American Adventure, there is only 1 seat next to the wheelchair spot. Theatres are dark and people go pouring in, so you may have to be flexible about splitting up.

If it isn't busy they are nice about it. We were 8 but had 2 GAC's we figured we would have to split up but every ride and show let us go together it wasn't crowded so I think that's why
