We will be in Disney for 8 nights and are planning on renting a WDW double stroller. We rented one last year and it worked out well. My kids are 5 and 8. Due to the cost of renting one for a week, I was just wondering if there is a double stroller that I can purchase before the trip that would be big enough for two older kids.
Thanks

Can't answer your question directly. But do have to add that you may find it easier to have your children walk. IMO the stroller is a hassle. I was so happy to not have to deal with it once my kids were able to walk.

I have a 4 yo and a 7 yo and we have a single Chicco stroller and we bought a Buggy Board to go on the back. It was the best thing we did. It was very convient to have the stroller for the little one and then when needed we could let the buggy board downa dn oldest daughter could stand and ride.

I really thought it was worth renting the parks stroller 2 years ago for my dd and ds that were 7 & 8 at the time. They both fit comfortably in it, we used it for our back pack part of the day and when they got tired and needed a break it was there. They are 9 and 10 this trip and I still am considering renting one there if they get tired at nite. My husband and I are troopers, and its not fair for them to have to keep up with us from morning til nite, thats alot of walking for them. JMO

Last year we used the rented stollers for my 4 and 6 year old nephews. Your older kids probably weigh less than my 4 year old nephew who is a TANK. He weighs more than the 6 year old. They called the stoller their "car". Rent the ones at the parks is my suggestion.

I really haven't heard of any strollers (besides special needs ones) that hold children weighing over 50 lbs, especially double ones. A 5 and 8 yr old should fit into a rented one just fine. Plus, then you don't have to lug it onto the tram or bus!

The MacLaren Twin Traveller and Twin Savvy, which are both side-by-side strollers, have a weight limit of 55 lbs. per seat. The only concern I have with this stroller is that your kiddos may be too tall, but you never know. My DD is 42 inches tall and still fits fine in our Twin Traveller.

Good luck in your search.

My DH wants to know if anyone knows where we can purchase a double stroller for small adults....we're interested in taking "our turn". ;)

My kids are 5 and 8 also and are both very tall and we will be renting a double stroller. My 8 y.o. will most likely walk most of the time but it will be nice if he gets tired to have a place to sit and rest. It is a lot of walking to expect kids to keep up with if your planning to do a lot. We plan every minute and it just makes the vacation nicer not to have to carry backpacks throughout the park. I also hate it when I see parents having to yell at their children to keep up and walk faster. It is a vacation for my family and I plan to make it as happy as we can! No yelling and no crying over being too tired to walk. Just my opinion! As far as I know there are no strollers on the market for kids over 55 lbs. In fact most single strollers go up to 45 lbs. It is costly to rent but the rentals are so good that we have just budgeted the cost into the trip. We are going to prebuy the stroller when we get there for the full 6 days to get the discount. HTH.

The one single piece of advice I give families of kids in the 4-9 range is to rent the stroller. A vacation to WDW can involve literally miles of walking a day. The stroller allows the kids to rest a little more and a happy, rested kid is a much more cooperative kid. It makes for a happier for vacation for all in my opinion. Is it a "hassle"? Maybe. But parenting is sometimes about the little things and having a stroller for older kids at Disney is just one of those little things that can make a huge difference.
