Are there chicken exits available on all attractions?

We have witnessed some parents physically pushing their child(ren) along the line and then forcing them to ride-"it's only 50 seconds of your lifetime!!!"

Of which you'll be scarred forever-but hey?!
I once witnessed a father throw a full on adult tantrum when he was told his son was too short to ride Soarin'. The boy was very close to making the height so I'm sure dad thought he was tall enough, but the CM said no. Dad started arguing with the CM, and escalated to yelling. Thankfully his wife got him to go sit down in the waiting area next to the exit and cool off before security had to be called. The little boy, on the other hand, didn't seem to care at all that he couldn't ride.

I actually appreciate that Disney keeps too short kids from entering the line. Eliminates the meltdown from a kiddo who gets all the way to the front of the line & sees the ride but isn't allowed on. I know mine at 2-3 years old would not understand that they can't ride even though they're in line.

Wow-just wow

By the way-I've never heard the term 'adult tantrum ' before:rolleyes1

Yes, but they could have an exit that allows you to leave without having to go back through the line. I didn't need to come out at the end of the ride. I had to walk over to the end of the ride anyway when I walked back through the line. I was in full blown panic attack mode, and when that happens I can throw up, pass out, etc. Not the safest for someone to have to try to push their way back through a heavy crowd of people, especially when it was that heavy crowd of people who set off the attack in the first place. I didn't want to go on the ride because I thought I was going to throw up or pass out.

So, you would want Disney to redesign an attraction that has been in existence since 1973 because of your one attack?

I really hope this is not a rude commit as adults can have tantrum. Kids with ASD ( autism ) will ( almost) always have tantrums As they really ever grow out of then. I am not saying this is what the OP has ( and I do not think so) but an adult can have a tantrum ( even with out any other problems.). and if you think about it we all have had then some are just bigger then others, some just call it by other names, like blowing off steam, losing my cool, POed, some people yell,

How??????

Btw, I have panic attacks too. So I sympathize. But I also realize it is on me to deal with it, not on Disney. I have no problem going back the way I came if I get in a queue and start to feel closed in. I also eye the chains and see which way would be an easy exit, it is just something I do now.

This was most certainly not deigned as a rude comment.
I am well aware tantrums can strike across the board -old and young.

I had simply never heard (or indeed read) the word tantrum prefixed by adult or child.

good it is just hard to tell on forms the way people will type what they mean

I know what you mean.

The same can happen in any read message, email ,text etc..
I love good old fashioned body language.

In fact I don't even need to speak-I can just give a look:smooth:

Just to be clear, I didn't mean to be rude either with my use of the term "adult tantrum." I had never heard it used before in reference to individuals with ASD, and just used it because "tantrum" was the best word I could think of to describe this man's behavior. He overreacted and lost his cool, for sure.

In the case of PoTC, I assume the same would also hold true for KS? I really want my MIL to ride it but I am pregnant and have been advised not to ride. I was planning on going through the queue with her for the rides I can't do but I know at KS that they drop you off at a different location when you're done.

I also have anxiety/panic attacks. They can happen anywhere. It's just not possible to have exits available for guests at every bend in the queue. There are fire exits, but they are manned when there is an evacuation only. There are only a certain number of CMs assigned at each attraction, and there is rarely someone free to take a guest through non-guest areas. I'm not sure where they could make an access at POTC that far into the building.

I hope you didn't mean literally pushing - just stepping aside usually helps me break enough of the cycle to get a grip. Could you ask your therapist for some new coping mechanisms? I'm sure you travel with someone who is aware of your difficulties, so perhaps they could help?

Yup, there's a gap between pick-up and drop-off. But the queues are much wider and much easier to navigate, IMO.

I'm sure I'm not the only person in the history of Disney who has had a panic attack on that ride. Firstly, my comments were based on the way I felt at the moment. And, at the moment I was in full on freak out mode. Secondly, there is an alternative route out because the manager informed me there was, but that it was a CM route. If I was evacuated out because the ride broke down I could've gone that way.

Sarcastic comments like these don't help the actual conversation move along or answer the initial posters question. They are simply jabs at those of us who shared our experiences. My initial response was to answer the question of the OP, but since people feel the need to question my experiences I'll respond.

I was at the point where you are about to get on the ride. It took me so long to get through the line that by the time I got to the store my family was done riding. This was a period of time in my life where I was just beginning to have panic attacks, and I was a teenager. As a much older adult I can hold my crap together better. But, this was actually the first panic attack I had that I didn't throw up and then pass out and drop to the floor shaking uncontrollably. So, I was anticipating that was about to happen as I fought my way back through the crowd. People experience panic attacks differently, so what works for you might not work for everyone.

Also, as I said this was 10 years ago. So, yeah. Lesson learned. Don't give personal anecdotes when answering because people feel the need to question your experiences. Now, I remember why I left the DISboards in the first place in years ago.
