Had a thought in the shower this morning - dreaming about our May vacation.....

I use the balcony as my get-away to read or relax during my kids naps or earlier bedtime.....are there balconies at POR?

Sorry, no. While it kind of looks like there is, that is actually a walkway to the other rooms. But you'll love POR anyway. Be sure to take the boys fishing. It's a catch and release programme. We had a blast doing that-even though it was sweltering in August the day that we were fishing. Have a great time!

There are no balconies at any of the value or moderate resorts, but I have seen people pull the chairs outside their door and keep the door propped open (to listen for the little ones) and they sit outside and talk, read etc and enjoy the scenery.

Debbie is there a charge to fish? Can you bring your own poles. My three guys, dh and two sons, love to fish and we are staying there in May.

There is a charge, but I honestly can't remember how much it is, but I found it to be reasonable-even for my brood! :p You would have to rent the cane poles that they have. And we (who never catch anything) caught a whole slew of them! Your boys (all three) will love being Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn for an hour or so! :)

I have stayed at both the mansion and bayou sections and have seen many guests pull their chairs out of the rooms into the common walkway. There is plenty of room to sit and enjoy. I would say that the bayous may offer a bit more privacy because the buildings are smaller and there are more ways in and out of the bayous. Regardless, it's peaceful and pleasant sitting outside your room at night listening to the sounds of the resort. :)

The charge for fishing includes the cane poles and live worms! The charge is by the hour, I believe. This is a small fishing hole and the idea is to catch and return the fish to the pond. There are also some turtles. We found that the fish have become very smart and have learned to take the worms off the hook without geting caught. Very smart fish! It is definitely a fun excursion for kids of all ages! :D

Thanks for the always reliable answers....it makes sense that that's a deluxe~moderate differentiating point. Last time, we were at WL. Looking forward to the fishing. My 4yo DS thinks he loves to fish - but he's never been. This is a sure highlight!
