Are there any current specials for joining DVC right now?

We were going to join DVC last year around dec and use the magical beginnings buyback of our 1st years points at $10/point at VWL, but we decided to wait. Just wondering if any specials like that are going on now or if anyone knows if any may come up in the future. We are renting points for our trip in Sept, and will probably look to buy then or sooner if any specials are happening. Thanks.

There is a presale incentive for BCV right now. It's either $5 off per point (with no buyback) or a voucher for free nights at another WDW resort. The price is scheduled to increase in June.

Once the resort opens in July, the current incentive may likely change. Possibly to the previous MB program. MB is still available at VB and HH at this time.

This is definitely an MYOB but why are you renting now & buying later? I got into DVC because I decided I wanted to go to Disney with friends...so I applied the money for the room as my downpayment.

For the first year you have double the points available to you if you don't use magical beginnings. And it appears with the current incentive you'd get the $5 off and the extra points.

If you're already pretty sure that you want to buy in, AND you're pretty sure that the Beach Club Villas are the resort that you would want to stay at the most of the DVC resorts, then it really behooves you to buy in now rather than to wait. First of all, the aforementioned $5 off per point is from the *current* regular price of $75 per point down to $70 per point. As of June 1, the regular price per point is going up to $80 per point - AND the $5 off per point is only a temporary promotion - it could go away at any time and will probably not last that far into the year. So if you look at the impending price increase, that $5 off per point is effectively $10 off per point from the regular price that will be in effect when you buy in September. (AND you won't have to give up your first year's points, as you would have with Magical Beginnings... )

If you want to have a different DVC resort as your home resort, then you should buy a resale rather than direct through Disney, but I would still think that it would be better to buy now than in September. Once the price per point through Disney goes up, I would have to think that resale prices are going to go up as well. So all the way around, *if* you're ready to buy into DVC, now is really the best time to do it, from a financial standpoint.

If you're still not sure about DVC, please post *any* questions that you have to this board. The people here are absolutely fantastic and informative and should serve as a tremendous resource for you.

Take care! :D

The reason we are not buying in now is to save money for the down payment. We had some past trouble and were told we could get in with 30% down and finance it for 5 years. It was good with the MB, having 1500 down from the buyback, but we decided to wait at the last minute to get other things in order. We would need about 3000 down to buy in at 150 points with no MB, and we are only renting for 880, 88 points at BWV. If we paid in the 3000 now, we could probably not afford to go this year, and we have PAP that expire on Sept 10, so we want to go to basically get free admission this years trip on the annual passes. Thats why we are waiting. Also, since it will be one year later when we may try to buy in, we may not need 30% down, maybe less as things get better. I do appreciate the feedback though.
