I was just reading the thread about Teva Sandals. Never wore a pair. My part of the country we love Birkenstocks. Hope there is more lovers of Birkenstocks then me. When we went to Disney last Spring Break, the kids, husband and me wore them. Worth the money with no feet problems of any kind. Hope to hear from some faithful Birkenstock wearers!!!! ::MinnieMo

:wave2: Another lover of Birkies right here. Last trip to disney (2003) my husband couldn't believe I was going to wear "sandels" instead of sneakers. Well 7 days later no blisters

I also love my Birks. I wore them all over WDW for 5 hot, hot days in August 2004 and not a blister! I can hardly wait for the snow around here to melt so I can wear them again! They might not be pretty but my feet love them! :flower:

I love my Birks!! And yes, even in the winter.

On your next trip to WDW, make sure you check out the Birkenstock outlet store if you haven't already. I always come home with a couple extra pairs, a girl can never have too many. The Birkenstock store is at the Belz Factory Outlet, and has great deals.

OOOOOH. :bitelip: Good to know. I am a nurse, and refuse to wear any other shoes to work in. I also have 3 pairs of sandals. I absolutely love :lovestruc them.

You've got my vote for Birks!! I also have a pair of Tevas but I don't find them nearly as comfortable. They are practical at the parks if you're going to be getting wet (Splash Mt., etc.) but I don't like them for all-day wear. I find the straps to be stiff and chafing after a while. On the other hand, during our trip last fall, I wore nothing BUT my Birkenstocks! No blisters, nice cool feet, plus they have that nice foot contour so offer a bit more support. It's all about comfy feet while touring WDW!!! ::yes::

Birkenstocks are the best, most comfortable shoes ever and I wear mine just about anywhere I can get away with it!! Last summer I wore them just about every single day for about 3-4 months.

Highly recommended footwear for the themeparks in my opinion - I wore them here when I went up to Gold Coast theme parks. I would recomend wearing them in a bit first as it took me a few weeks for get used to them, I wouldn't take a brand new pair to WDW thats for sure.

Love My Birkenstocks! Last August I broke "2" toes when I kicked :cool1: (not cool) the bedpost in our room at the WL (according to management this was not an odd thing to happen and they were looking into making a change to the bed frames). My toes were so swollen and a very pretty shade of purple (my favorite color ! :upsidedow ) Tried my Tevas-ouch!! Too tight. Tried my New Balance sneakers-No way! I was able to walk, a little slower than normal, all over WDW in my "3" different pairs of Birks. Your foot sits in just perfectly. They saved my trip. My DS has the mens Red, White and Blue Birks and he just loves them. I find QVC the best way to buy them because of the great deals and I can wear them for about a month and if I don't like them I have no problem returning them.

Do Birkenstocks have a strap to hold them on when you go on rides, or do you have to take them off? I myself am a devoted Teva fan! Last year I wore them hiking the Grand Canyon, and plan on doing so again this year!

Yes, they have styles with heel straps and not just the slip-on kind. I can't stand ANY sandal that's a slip-on - they always seem to fly off my feet when I take a step forward! I think it's the Milano type that I have; two foot straps and the heel strap. VERY comfy!

I finally had to get replace my 12-year-old pair of Birkenstock Milanos (the classic ones with the heel strap) this winter. I've had the poor things resoled twice and the leather is FINALLY giving and the support is gone. :sad1: I have the same pair in brown, and four other fashion pairs.

Make sure you break them in before you wear them or you will have achy feet (not blistery, just achy from the firm support). My new pair is "in training" for my October visit. The cork really absorbs the shock from the concrete.

Count me in as a BIRKI fan... I love mine. I have about 5 pairs. I wear mine everyday. Now that it is winter.. I wear my black clogs... no boots no sneakers... I wore my Gerry Garcia style Berkies on my DCl cruise last August.. and somone else liked them so much that they took them from my deck chair. I was so upset. :sad2:
I never did get them back. And of course they stopped making that color so they are not replaceable. Of all places I was shocked that someone took them from the DISNEY CRUISE..
Any they are custome fitted to your own feet after awhile.so sad....
There is a store in WILLIAMSBURG Virginia. and my sister lives there,, so I tend to visit there often...What style does everyone like...

For the sandals, I prefer, the 3 strap, with no back strap. They stay on a bit better, than the 2 strap. I really don't like the back strap.

I also have 2 pairs of Birkie clogs, and a pair of Bostons for work.

Iwasnt paying attn this past dec.... and i wore my birks into the ocean(from mich)... on a red tide day :rolleyes1 ...except I didnt know what red tide was until i had huge rashes up to my knees from wading. And anyways. I havnt wore my birks since then. I guess im afraid of the red tide being in them, and I dont want to go through what I went through during my last vacation. (wont forget the itching) Does anyone know if the red tide can live in the cork? and how can I clean my birkis?! Machine wash? soak them? mine are not even really broken in. Please anyone? :confused3

Are these ok to wear on water rides? I was considering the Tevas, but now I don't know!!

I would definatly not recomend wearing these on water rides at BB or TL, they are made of leather, and soles are like proper shoe soles, you would ruin them wearing them on water rides. However they are ok for ride in which water is involved for example Kali River Rapids or Splash Mountain (which i assume involves water - having never been to WDW i wouldn't know), but i've been to theme parks here, and worn them on water rides like that here and its been ok, but definatly not for actual water slides - if that makes sense at all....

Yes that makes sense :) That is what I was talking about - KRR and SM. I wouldn't use them as water shoes per se!

I love my Birkenstocks! I have lots and lots of them. I used to live in the San Francisco area and went to the Gilroy outlet and then to the Orlando one when at WDW. Somehow I always seem to leave with 1-2 more pairs.

If you go to the outlets don't overlook the plastic containers on the floor. that's where the best deals are. I got a pair of black leather "dress" birkenstocks - a closed shoe that has a t-strap for $20 in Gilroy. I had them on and was in the Birkenstock store in SF when the sales guy commented on them. When I told him I'd gotten them at the outlet he showed me where they were selling them for $150.

I went to the Presidential inauguration in January and I wore Birkenstocks (my dress Mary Jane's) to all of the balls. My friends were moaning over how bad their feet hurt and they could barely get back to the hotel. I took other dress shoes but I was so glad that I choose to wear the comfy birkis- they didn't even show under my black velvet skirt and pants.

I just bought a pair of these:

Does anyone have them? Like them? I do a lot of walking around at my job and wanted a nice comfortable shoe and this looked like it. I was a little skeptical paying upwards of $200 for a pair of shoes, but based on the reviews on this site, and all the things I've heard in the past, I figured I would give it a try.

I hope I'm not disappointed. :confused3
