Are spiritual mediums for real or fake? --- as fake as can be, and are just after your $£$£$.
Have you ever been to one? ---no, and I don't ever plan to either.

I am one.. and yes some are people just trying to steal your money.. .. and some are for real. Like me.

and just like any skill, some people are just better at it than others.

Real or fake? I think they are real, though there are many more fakes than there are real ones.

I have paid for a reading. It was not very good. Probably got ripped off, but I did it for fun with my sister & mom.

I've met dozens of Spiritualist mediums - some were very good, others were not. I think, though, that even the ones who were not that good were genuine in their belief. Not sure I've ever met a "fake" - that is, someone who did not believe in their abilities at all, and who was entirely pretending just to rip people off.

I saw John Edward (Crossing Over) in person twice, and Colin Fry (6th Sense) once. They were both pretty interesting, and seemed to have more "hits" than "misses."

Both. I think most are fake, but I do believe that people are capable of extra sensory abilities, I've just never met anyone that I thought was real. I did go to a John Edward show once, pretty much turned me into a beliver that he was a big old bag of hot air. The man had more handlers than Elvis and you could see him 'mentally' clock in and out on the dot.

Everytime someone has tried to read me, my cards or "psychic" me in anyway I get a raging case of the giggles. They are just SO dramatic about it. I figure anyone with any real ability doesn't need to whisper, go into a trance, or make ominous clicking sounds with thier tongue. Then they get mad and blame me for thier lack of readings. So I just decline and they acuse me of being an unbeliver, when in fact I am totally a believer, just not in them.

real or fake........ couldn't tell ya
never been and I don't plan to go

I've tried readings a few times (as in less than 5).

One time was absolutely spot-on. Incredible. Made me a believer (and I am normally a skeptic).

The others were crap.

I think that some psychics are the real deal, but they are few and far between.

Fake

I don't know if people in the states have heard of Derren Brown, a famous illusionist here? Well he has convinced some of the most notable mediums in the world that he is one, where he assures every viewer that he isn't and not to believe in it. I believe most mediums who 'believe' in themselves (rather than the outright fraudsters) are just people who have amazing knack to pick up on peoples subconscious clues, which is a talent in and of itself, but isn't really communicating with anything other than the cues given to them and a bit of clever guess work.

Sorry, but it's what I believe.

I don't really believe in mediums. However, I do believe that people all have some psychic ability...some naturally have more than others and some have developed that particular sense more highly than others. However, I don't believe in "psychics" who use their "abilities" to get money or fame.

I have seen things that make me say "you never know what's out there"....
Like anything else some are real/good some are not. Doctors, teachers, husbands... you can say that for everyone. ;)

I would have to believe that there is such a thing as the supernatural or "spirits" to believe that mediums are legit. I do, however, believe that many people are very intuitive.

omg... you found the bad ones.. LOL!

Totally found the wannabes. I am a cynic, I admit it, but I am the most laid back open minded person, I am always open to new things. If I ever found a real one, I'd be open to the concept, but I swear every new age wannabe who ever had one moment of dejavu is convinced they are channeling spirits of ancient indian princesses or norse warriors and that as soon as the can "open" my mind then I will be the recipent of so much wonder. I have actually met people who I thought were gifted in one way or another but they were so casual about it and never tried to use it, just every once in a while they'd have a hunch or know something without a way to know it. Now they I believe could have talent, but everyone pulling out thier cards at halloween, not so much.

My cousin just went to one and this man told her things that nobody could know. He told her there were a lot of little women all talking at the same time. That was our family. A typical Italian family. He also apologized to her and said this one women insisted that he do this. He pinched her cheek. OMG it was our Aunt Bella! She would do that to all of us but my cousin most of all. He also told her a lot of other things that nobody, including family would know about her. So I am a believer. The next time my cousins' friend has him over, I am going to see if he can reach my darling Ron. I have to know if he is OK.

Never been to one.

I think that 99.9% of them are fake.

Why wouldn't the deceased person/family member contact you directly? Why would they have to go through a total stranger to speak to you? That doesn't make sense to me at all.

John Edwards is the biggest scam artist. Record his show and play it back and you'll see what I am saying. He is funny. Especially when he is in front of a large audience. "There is a John coming through...does anyone know a John? He points to his heart and head area. Did he have a heart attack or stroke?" Duh! Most people end up dead from a heart attack or stroke?

No one has claimed the Amazing Randi's $1 million yet.

Scam, scam, scam.

As another poster mentioned, some are good at picking up on ques and running with that. What Italian doesn't have short women in their family, and one that pinches cheeks? That "spiritual" person could have pulled the same thing on me and it would have also been true. :sad2:

I had a reading by George Anderson years ago. He told me things that nobody knew. I am absolutely positive that he is for real. I believe there are fakes and I believe there are those that are genuine.

There may be a FEW reputable ones, but the several I went to years ago for fun were pitiful:

"You have two children...three....one?" (I had none)

"Someone you know is getting married (or having a baby)." (Well, yeah...I have 75 1st cousins, someone is ALWAYS getting married or having a baby.) :rotfl:

I admit I'm cynical and tend to believe in the old Steve Martin/Deborah Winter movie "Leap of Faith" - shows some of the scams.

I am a cynic, I admit it, but I am the most laid back open minded person

Sorry, but those 2 things do not go together.

The next time my cousins' friend has him over, I am going to see if he can reach my darling Ron. I have to know if he is OK.

I read your story a few days ago... your Ron is happy, healthy, and waiting for you.
