Are spiritual mediums for real or fake? Have you ever been to one?

Oh, yeah...I forgot...its not real!!!

But, I'm still emotionally invested in it.. If I read for my friend so they can win so I can win, I'm emotionally invested... good idea though.

That's just a theory of mine, but it could explain a lot. A true psychic or medium might simply be able to read that energy better than others. You never know. Here is the deal (and before anyone asks, I used to teach this stuff too)

We all have an energy field or aura and yes, it's been measured.. we resonate at a specific frequency. Psychics read your aura which has in it everywhere you have been and everywhere you will go.. they then interpret these impressions and give you a "reading". Everyone does it whether they know it or not. Its how you know when someone is sincere.. or if someone is in a bad mood before you've seen their face.. its the "vibe". The majority of my "work" was with animal communication which is really the same thing.. only with animals. I wrote a little blurb on it a while back

Now, mediumship is different but not. (clear as mud?) Energy beings (meaning ghosties, spirits, ascended masters etc) resonate at a higher frequency than those of us stick in skin bags. In order for an intuitive to communicate with spirit energy, you have to raise your vibration with meditation and try very hard to remain a positive person. When we work to raise our energy vibration to a higher level, we can sense energy that belongs to people who have passed, our spirit guides, etc etc..

I at point now that my psychic abilities does not scare the **** now. I am not sure what classification I am medium, healer, or psychic. I do know for fact that I am healer and that is my strength. I just heal a person at my job for a burst blood vessel instantly without thought.

If around family they know I see dead people all the time but they do think it's odd.

Sane people cannot see or hear dead people. Some sane people who are grieving might think they heard from a loved one because they so badly wish to, but people who see/talk to loads of dead people are either scam artists or have psych issues.

Just yesterday I had a patient ask, Can you see any dead people?

No, I can't.

I can.

No, but they're around here. I see them here.

Just here. This just started. But you can't see them.

Nope. They aren't there. The people you see, are they people-people or shadowy figures?

Some are people-people, but some ARE like shadows. I can see them, but I can't, know what I mean?

I do. It's all these medications you're taking. The people you see aren't real. The meds are messing with your brain, I think.

They aren't here. (She was so upset and disappointed.)

Nope, they aren't. I'll call the doctor. They should be able to help you...give you something to help you stop seeing people or change your meds so your brain stops creating them. My guess is that it won't last. It must be very hard, not knowing what is real and what isn't.

Then she started crying and I hugged her and her husband came to her rescue telling her she was like that kid in that movie, "I see dead people," which was pretty funny. That perked her up a bit.

For people who really ARE seeing dead people that aren't there, it must be very difficult.

For the scam artists...shame on them.

This is where things get interesting. I don't doubt that there are many people who suffer from this type of illness. I should mention that I really do think that people should have some skeptism when it comes to psychics. There are way too many people willing to take advantage of someone's grief or vulnerability.

But I also know that eventually science will prove what I believe to be true. People didn't believe germs existed until we had the technology to find them.

I also know that according to the DSM, I have several of the recognized "symtoms" of mental illness.

Like bookgirl, I consider myself an open-minded skeptic. I do believe most of us have psychic abilities to some extent - I've had one experience myself and some of my VERY skeptical family members have as well. It mystifies me, I can't explain it, but then again there are many things I don't understand and can't explain. That doesn't mean they are not real. But the bottom line is, I've seen enough evidence to convince me that we do have the ability to perceive things outside of our 5 senses.

As for meduims, I just don't know. I'd like to think it's possible to communicate with the dead, but I'd have to have to have some sort of personal experience in order to believe mediums are anything but talented performers. I'd love to have the opportunity to speak with a medium, though. I really need to know that my Mother is ok.

I don't know anything about that. All I can say with absolute conviction is I had a reading with the man and he was dead on accurate. The reading was over an hour long and I went in on a cancellation under someone else's name. My grandmother and many other relatives came through in my reading with messages that George could not possibly have known.

The thing with George is you are told to say yes or no and nothing else so I wasn't giving anything away. He named names, gave descriptions and gave me some extremely personal information that I had never told another person before.

"For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible."

Jessica~ Glad to hear you had a good experience. I do believe that there are genuine people out there who have gifts and are able to help. I do question certain things. If this "gift" is spiritual and you as the psychic ascribe to that. Why charge $200 - $1000 to people who are in pain and grieving over the loss of a loved one for an 30 - 60 minute session. I understand the need to earn a living, even a comfortable one but its wrong to take advantage of someone like that.

All that aside I do believe that love never dies and your loved ones are around you all the time and watching over you. I have felt their reassuring presence during difficult times. My brother died in our home with us around him when he passed he was reaching out to someone's hand and my sister clasped it. And he said in a loving joyful voice "oh its you!! I'm so happy I could cry. Hey, I can walk theres no pain." and he died. I believe he was met by my Grandmother and relatives who passed before him. So I have a very deep belief in life continuing. ( my brother lost the use of his legs his last year of his illness)
