Are reservations hard to get now with new 60 day window?

you can book ADRs, for all the days you'll be at Disney World, at the 60 day mark prior to your check in date. They don't force you to wait 60 days prior to each of your vacation days. You book them all at once at that 60 day prior to check in day mark.
This is really basically true except in the case of a split stay.

If vwlfan, for instance, is checking into their first place on Feb 18, tomorrow (12/20) they can make ADRs for the dates that are included for your first stay (so, presumably, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd). They'll have to wait until 60 days before check-in for the second set of reservations (I only know this because I was surprised by it after adding a one-night before a DVC stay and thinking I'd be all set on that first day. Not a huge difference - I'm just mentioning it in case anyone searches/asks.

thank you

thank you
Welcome. see bsmcneil's response a few posts up though about split stays. sounds like you have to treat each check in at a new hotel as a new reservation, so you would be bound to the 60 days for each resort.

I never understand what 60 plus length of stay means. Explain please . Lucky enough to do a 10 day split soon. 5 and 5.
It is confusing! So I'll use sample dates:

Let's say your trip is from August 10th to August 20th. Split stay August 10th-15th at Pop Century and August 15th to 20th at Grand Floridian.

60 days before august 10th is June 11th. Starting June 11th you can book ADR's for August 10th to August 15th. That is the length of stay. Even though August 14th is more than 60 days before because the trip starts on the 10th, that is when the 60 day starts.

However, because it's a split stay, the 60 days + length of stay only applies to the first stretch of 5 days. The ADR's during 16th-20th would have a starting date of June 16th, because that is 60 days before August 15th.

Does that clarify it?

I had a hard time getting reservations at 60+5 days. Oga’s reservation isn’t until 9pm because that’s all we could get. Couldn’t get Space 220 at all. I did manage to get the MK dessert party so that was good.

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned, but reservations have been VERY wonky. I dutifully booked my meals for my Feb trip on the morning of my 60-day mark.
These are the reservations I could not get-
Rose & crown
Olivia’s cafe brunch (we’re staying at OKW)
Yak & Yeti

I thought this was kinda odd so I started clicking around and it seems some restaurants just hadn’t added dates yet. After a couple WEEKS of stalking, I got everything except yak & yeti booked (I have a landrys card, so I can use that if all else fails)
Olivia’s was only showing dinner as an option for weekends until i checked yesterday, and brunch was FINALLY added.
So if at first you don’t succeed, stalk and stalk some more!

We were able to get a reservation we wanted this last trip on the day before as people canceled, specifically a yak and yeti near park closure.. While looking for that to open up occasionally popped open a crystal palace a space 220, Royal banquet hall etc. which we were surprised to see. We also used the app to put on waitlist at Kona Café breakfast (all ADRs gone) and that went very smoothly. You just have to have one person in your party close enough to the restaurant to be able to click the button to say “add to wait list”.

Next March will be our first trip to DW since they reduced the reservation window from 180 to 60 days. My coworker who goes to Disney a lot said he was finding reservations very hard to get now. Has this been everyone else's experience? He also gave me a tip when it comes to trying to find reservations....he said even though my family is a party of 3....to look for reservations for a party of 2 and that it typically will show a lot more open spots and that the restaurant won't care if you show up with 3. Is there any truth to this trick? It seems odd Disney would have more open spots for just 2 people, considering I can't recall ever seeing just tables set up for only 2....most tables are set for 4 at a minimum from what I can remember. Thanks.

I’ve found it harder to get 2, not as many small tables. I would not plan to be able to add 1. I would try 4, there’s no problem with 1 less.
