Hi,
Driving myself crazy with possibly adding on 50pts.
Price for 50pts direct...$5050...he said this was total...Do i have to pay dues for 2010 and 2011...he didnt' mention this????

Thinking might just go direct to get 2010 pts....I have April UY.
Found a cheaper resale...but too late to bank those and I can't use them before April...already have a trip planned.

Anyhoo Direct for WLV is $101 pp...BWV $114 or 115...this shocked me....I thought all sold outs were the same price.

Does anyone know if there have been any announcements about raising point prices?
Every day I have to fight the urge to call and do the add on. It is pretty impulsive right now...and I am fighting the urge while simultaneously researching:rotfl2::headache:

Also....after the deadline of resales....Do you think point price will change direct?
Thanks
Kerri

If you purchase direct now you would only pay a pro-rated amount of dues for 2011. You would not pay any dues for 2010. I have not heard anything about a price increase.

No 2010 dues:cool1: Worth it to go direct for that. Price was 90pp resale.

Prorated 2011 dues???

If I bought today...don't get 2011 points till April. I wouldn't have to pay the full price for 50pts for 2011 dues???
OMG if this is true...I might HAVE to call:lmao:
Thanks

Dues are by calendar year, not use year. You would pay approx 11/12 of the 2011 dues.

We have a Feb UY and I just called my guide last week and added on 50 points at HHI for $80/point. There has been NOTHING in the 35-75 point, FEB UY at HHI in the resale market for months so I finally decided that the added expense was worth it. Our points are already in our account and the 2010 ones have been banked. We opted to finance because we weren't 100% sure on the amount and timing of our income tax refund. I wanted to make sure that we got the "extra" (2010) points so that I could use 100 points this October. We plan on paying the loan off by the end of next year. Our guide said that the first payment will not come out until April 1st. The 2011 maintenance fees will be due "in about 60 days" (from when, I don't know) and they will be prorated from the beginning of the year.

Congrats:cool1:. With a small contract it dosen't seem resale is much cheaper.
Do you mind my asking how much interest disney charges for adding on?
Thanks
Kerri

Gotcha......maybe i should wait till March:rolleyes1 It's only 50pts;)
Thanks
Kerri

Just remember, that at the sold out resorts, they don't always have the points in all UY's right away. Sometimes you do have to wait until they get more "in stock" so to speak.

So, you might at least want to inquire about them and then can decide when to add on.

Also, you can put down the purchase on a Disney Visa and get 6 months, 0% interest. We did a 30 point add on at BLT in August and have until April to pay it off.

Disney's rate for 50 points, I believe for add ons, is the lower rate, around 11%.

Good luck!

How does the 2010 points work with direct? I didn't see anything about getting 2010 points when you purchased now. Might make it worth it to buy direct with this.

Thanks, Erika

Guide said points were available in my UY...he said this before i said I wanted 50 so makes me think they have "a few".

My UY is April. Guide said I would get my 2010 points....and when i said that i am past the banking window....he said he could get them banked for me.

And if this is true that I dont pay ANY 2010 dues and less 2011 dues.....boy for my Impulsive Obsessive Disney mind......ahem....lets say that may be "an offer I can't refuse":rotfl2::rolleyes:

It depends on your use year and if Disney has the points.

Essentially, you get current use year points even though there is only part of the use year remaining. So for example, if you bought today and had a June use year, you would get 2010 points because you are still in your 2010 use year (6/1/2010- 5/31/2011). Disney also lets you bank the current use year points from a newly-purchased add on, even if you are past your banking deadline. That's a big benefit you do NOT get going resale.

Another example: If you have a February use year and buy on or after 2/1/2011, you would get only 2011 points. Your 2010 use year is past (2/1/2010 - 1/31/2011).

As someone already mentioned, Disney may not have points in all use years for the sold out resorts. If that is the case, you can put down a deposit and wait.

I was quoted 10.75% for either 5 or 10 years. I'm planning on paying $200/month which will have the loan paid off on December 1, 2012.

The cost was $80/pt X 50 points = $4000
Minus the $400 (10%) downpayment = $3600 financed
There are no closing costs with an add-on.

Our guide said the first payment will probably not be taken until April 1. Once the income tax refund amount is finalized, we will probably put another $1000 toward our downpayment. This would make our monthy payment only about $35 if we go with the 10-year financing, but at $200/month, it would be paid off by 4/1/2012!

That site says for OKW that discounts are available up to $11 a point. Anyone know what you have to do to get the discounts? Minimum purchase?

Must be a current DVC member and a minimum 25 point contract purchase. With the discount, it would be $90/pt at OKW and direct from Disney is for the extended years contract to 2057.

When you purchase directly from Disney you pay pro-rated dues the first year starting from the later of your purchase date, the start of your initial UY and the occupancy date of the Unit you purchase. That last item is only applicable to new construction. So if you add on today and you get current UY pts (Apr 2010) with your purchase then your dues will be pro-rated starting from today. You will owe 388 days worth of dues but you won't be billed until after you close on your purchase. If they run out of current UY pts and your first points are your Apr 2011 points then your dues would be pro-rated from April 1st. In other words, the dues begin when you get and can begin using your first set of points.

Thanks....I think I will sit tight for now....and see how my 7 mth 9 am phone call goes March 1st.
I might have passed the "obsessed point" for adding on....Don't "need" extra points....but ya know one can always use them:confused3
Thanks for the great info:goodvibes
