Are PM's Really Private?

The link is in my sig. As for the coasters, CAK isn't into woodies. However, we did ride the ducks and she looked across the street at the big one there. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and left on Sunday, so we didn't have much time. Did hit the casino though.

We went right about noon. We did see a couple deer. Of course, I've seen enough deer to meet anyone's quota. LOL!! But Carol always thinks they're cool. Here's a few photos for the others to enjoy...

Are PM's Really Private

There is nothing secure about PMs on a vBulletin Forum. Well, from the general public it's secure. Unless you know the user's password, you shouldn't be able to access the board using that member's id. Don't get me wrong, this software (vBulletin) has been hacked in the past even though it probably hasn't happened here yet.

But for webmasters and moderators reading user's PMs? Well, heck. There's a site for vBulletin owners specifically designed for hacks/mods. These are changes to the original vBulletin code that allow for more functionality. There are hundreds of mods that the vBulletin owner can install to their board. I'll just list some of the ones for PMs;

Admins can view recent PM's - Installed by 24 owners

Admins can view user's PM's - Installed by 117 owners

Scary, isn't it? I guess it's a matter of ethics or lack of.
