Are people really this gullible ???

OH. MY. GOSH!

I can't believe people are spending their money like that! My BF told me that x-boxes were going for about $1000 on ebay...but I can't believe that some people are bidding for a gift card that could be as little as $20...and a 10% CHANCE to get an X-Box! How will they know if someone even "wins"?

WOW...I feel so bad for some of these people.

Buyer beware yada yada yada....but we may be talking about people who are not in a position to understand this "con".

What goes around comes around....

Makes you kind of want to email the buyer and wake them up!

Aren't these kinds of auctions illegal on eBay?
Bonus, Prize, Giveaway and Raffle Policy

eBay does not permit listings that promote giveaways, random drawings, raffles, or prizes, because these promotions are highly regulated and may be unlawful in many states. eBay itself may run such promotions on the site, and may grant authorization to its partners or third party companies to run promotions that comply with applicable laws.

eBay does not permit bonus listings in which the seller does not state the exact amount at which the bonus will apply, or Multiple Item Listings in which the exact same bonus is not offered to all buyers.

Listing cancellation
  • Limits on account privileges
  • Account suspension
  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
  • Loss of PowerSeller status
Maybe someone needs to turn the auction in to eBay.

eBay has become so riddled with fraud that it is going to implode. They don't police their own auctions and they let scammers change their seller names and keep on scamming. Caveat emptor.

That is unreal! How could someone bid close to $700....did they just not "get" the ad. Although deceptive in the photographs and title, the description spelled out pretty well that you were not buying an xbox 360.

He must have been reported though because there are no longer items for sale by this seller.

I'm always tempted to email the buyers in these type of auctions, but I wasn't sure if that was allowed. But I hope that someone stopped this seller. I did notice that all of the bidders have low feedback scores, so they are newbies.

It's not allowed. But in a case like this, one certainly feels tempted to do it anyway.

If they are newbies, they may think they are bidding on the xbox. I hope they understand that they are actually bidding on a gift card with a chance to win the xbox.

Ebay really needs a credible competitor. It is too much like a monopoly right now.

I thought so. But when I mentioned that on another ebay thread a few months ago, someone thought I was wrong.

I feel sooo bad for those people bidding. I'm sure they didn't read the fine print

Obviously, they just don't get the auction.

I checked a couple of the seller's other finished auctions and he was also selling Best Buy gift cards. But the twist was that the buyer had no idea whether they were getting a $15 card or a $200 card for their bid. The 3 auctions had winning bids in the range of $27 - $36. Wanna bet they all got $15 GCs? People like him give eBay a bad name.

The seller doesn't have any more auctions up...I hope EBay pulled him.

I wonder what the lucky "winner" will recieve???
