Are outlet expanders/adapters allowed?

I know that they've "no no'd" the rectangular shaped power strips, but is DCL allowing the 6 outlet plug-in adapters on the ships?

Thanks!

Don't think so.... I would expect it to be seized.

BTW... there was six outlets in my cabin. That should be enough.

If your unapproved device starts a fire in open waters. The mouse is the last thing you should be fearing.

Keep in mind, some ships are older and built way before cruisers had so many electronics. The wiring may not handle the excess current. I had sparks fly when I plug a camcorder in a cheap hotel 20yrs ago. I respect electrical safety rules since then.

I emailed DCL about two months ago. I specifically asked them if a three in one plug was allowed. I was referring to the small plugs (2-3 inches long) with three separate outlets on one side and one plug to connect to the existing outlets on the other. I also asked about multi USB adapters. After a few days, they replied that they weren't sure and would have to research it. About three weeks later I received an email that simply stated that the USB adapters were fine. It didn't mention the plug idea. I'm not sure if that means they aren't allowed, or they just failed to answer that portion of my question.

Their website says that extension cords and surge protectors are prohibited. An extender plug is not a surge protector, but the question remains if DCL considers them extension cords. I'm planning on using the USB adaptor for charging iPads/iPhones. Hopefully that will leave enough other spare outlets for cameras and whatever else we need.

From DCL's perspective, anything that has multiple 110v electric sockets is off-limits. It doesn't matter whether it has a cord or not. USB chargers are fine.

They actually have a lot of extension cords available, which are six feet long and have three outlets on the far end. If you really need one, go to guest services and borrow one for free. If it's for something important like a CPAP, they'll definitely get you one, and they'll probably have one for you even if it's not for something important.

Between the multi-outlet USB charger and (on the Wonder) borrowing an extension cord, we've had no trouble plugging in everything we need.

We had our TA add this request to our reservation. When we boarded we just stopped by Guest Services and they had one waiting with our name on it. It might be a good idea to note this on your reservation as our TA said that they do have a limited number of these extension cords.
