Are movies available in 3D ONLY shown in 3D?

We'll be sailing on the Wonder 2 days after Avengers: Infinity War comes out and I'm assuming the movie will be shown in the BV theater. I'm wondering, though, if the movie will only be shown in 3D (if there's a 3D version). Has anyone noticed if this is a thing on DCL? If 3D is available is that the only version that gets shown?

The reason I'm asking is that my wife and I don't like 3D movies, and my kids hate it. My son saw The Force Awakens in 3D and spent half the movie with one eye closed. We were thinking we'd just wait until the cruise to see Avengers, but if it's 3D-only maybe we'll see it on land instead.

Usually there's a 2D version of the movies, also. It may not play as much as the 3D version, but that's been my experience.

I was recently on the Magic for a 4 night cruise not long after the latest Star Wars movie was released, and while there were 3D offerings for all the movies on the ship, it only accounted for ~30% of the showings in the Buena Vista Theatre. So you should have plenty of opportunities to see the newly released films in non-3D. Here's a beak down from our navigators to give you an idea:

Star Wars: Last Jedi - 6 showings (2 in 3D)
Thor: Ragnarok - 6 showings (1 in 3D)
Coco - 7 showings (3 in 3D)

We had the same experience on our December cruise for Star Wars and earlier in the year for other movies. Both 2D and 3D showings. Note that they may show the 2D versions in the Walt Disney theater for the bigger releases (ie - Avengers) as well as Buena Vista theater.

They show a mix of 2D, 3D and OC (open captioning) so you can choose which version you want to see. Longer cruises will have more showings/options. We are on the two night Wonder cruise when Infinity War prem-ears!

We recently saw Coco in 3D on the Fantasy but all other showings were 2D.

Noticed the same for other movies (Thor, SW) - offered about 50/50 regular and 3D.
