Hahaha. Good catch. I will say, however that we did not make a single FP reservation until we arrived on-site and had no problem, even getting rope-trip TSMM. So I guess I have a harder time believing people who say spontaneity is dead.
BoG issues "roses" (like a small red hockey puck) that guests take with them to their tables.
That "rose" is the RF device that signals the wait staff as to your location.
We loved them because we weren't having to dig out and put away the park tickets for entrance and FP. We were onsite so we also used them for our meals and snacks on DDP and opening our room. But no, they aren't necessary, and it won't change anything you remember from before. I'm sure if we hadn't received them for staying onsite, we wouldn't have purchased them either.
Not necessary IMHO when staying offsite - you can't use them to charge or gain access to your room so they are just a park ticket bracelet! We have several sets from on site stays but most of my family doesn't bother to wear them when we stay offsite.
If you use a lanyard to keep your park pass handy for park entrance, the 3 (maybe 4) fast pass + rides and the occasional photo your all set and it's not like you don't know when you will need them! You won't get some ride video or photo but that doesn't bother us.
Awe that's nice - my dd's and my niece were really disappointed two weeks ago when they didn't get a rose because we had MB's. Maybe I will let them ask in the future now that I know it is an option.
But back OT -to the poster that said you can't get service at BoG without a MB that just isn't correct!
I just don't see how. They do the same functions as the cards used to do, apart from the ride video (and really, they should let you get that, too, with a card...though I personally could not care less about a video of anyone in the world going on a ride, not even people in my family).
