Are Egypt October 2021 trips going?

Egyptair wanted the vaccination card with QR code, but the AbD rep that cleared us at the airport wanted the rt-pcr results.

Interesting! So someone from AbD was there at San Francisco before you departed?

Thank you so much for all the information, this is so helpful!

Thanks so much for reporting back on your trip! I had one question about the PCR test to enter Egypt. I know you need to show proof of vaccination to enter the country and we will need a test to return home, but I am confused about needing a negative test to enter if you are fully-vaccinated. Was that a requirement of the airline or did you need it for Egypt?

I’m not sure of the passengers. All those in Egypt who work in the tourism industry are all vaccinated. We had very little interaction with the other passengers. There weren’t many. Mostly European tourists.
Thanks for answering all our questions! I have another one.

How was the day flying to Abu Simbel from Aswan and back? It looks like a very long day. Do you happen to remember the timing (how early you had to wake up, etc.)?

No. We went to the lab at SFO airport. registered for an appointment on line. Worksite labs. Fee was $90. They will ask for destination so you get the right type of test required. It has the QR Code on the results too which is required by Egypt.

For entry into Egypt and exit back to the USA I would check the US embassy for Egypt for covid requirements when you are about to travel. Things change with time. For us, we needed a QR code with your vaccination card or a negative RT-PCR test. We decided to do both, just in case. And although it states 96 hours from your last flight jnto Egypt, we played it safe by making sure we were within 72 hours from our LAST flight into Egypt for the test. The airlines varied, some asked for the vaccination card and another for the negative covid test. When we arrived in Egypt, the AbD rep who met us asked for the negative covid test.

Currently to return to the US, you have to have a negative covid test. AbD arranges for your testing st the resort. The cost is $100 per person and charged to your room.

Again, things keep changing so check the US Embassy site for Egypt.

The CDC just upgraded Egypt to level 3. Our Disney guide said if they reach level 4, most likely future tours will be cancelled.

As I mentioned, the itinerary changes. It all depends on the flights of Egyptair. So we did Aswan one day and flew to Abu Simbel on another. You still do what’s on the itinerary but not always exactly in the order shown on the booklet

For our flight to Aswan we had to be up at 3:00 am because of the flight schedules. So, since we arrived early we just did Aswan. Flights are dependent on Egyptair’s schedule.

One more item. Make sure you have paper copies of all your results, vaccination cards, negative covid test. Digital is not used. Everyone from the airlines to the AbD rep who meets you want the paper copies. We made duplicates just in case.

Thanks for the info.

I had a feeling there were some early mornings (which is why I asked the question), but 3AM??!! That's crazy!

One more item. Disney contracted with the Anvil group to verify covid vaccination and testing as well as a health assessment. You have to complete this 24 hours before the start of your tour. Oddly, we still had to do it even though we were in Egypt two days before the start of the tour. We had a day trip to Alexandria from Cairo and spent another day viewing the art exhibit with a tour guide for the “Forever is Now” exhibit at the Great pyramids of Giza. It took them 3 years of planning for this art exhibit and sadly, it is only on display for three weeks! ☹️

Might change when you get there. All dependent in the airlines. They are short flights.
Off the subject, but just FYI. For those of you that have miles with any Star Alliance carrier, you might want to save all your printed boarding passes. 8 days after your Egyptair flights you can enter those in for miles into your account.

I’ve only ever seen digital vaccine records with QR codes. I’ll have to do some research to see if I can find something on paper with a QR code for a vaccination record. 🤔 Thanks!

If it helps allay your concerns, to fly into Egypt you have to be fully vaccinated or present a negative pcr test. So, those other tourists on the river boat had to have had either one of the above. Also, we were on the MS Tulip run by Coral sea and basically only 32 state rooms. So, if future AbD Egypt group
Tours have around 30 people, I’d assume you would occupy half of the riverboat. .

Can't locals take the riverboat? I'm assuming they don't have to be vaccinated or show a negative pcr test to travel around their own country. What if they are traveling by ground from a neighboring country?

Sayhello

Probably but we didn’t see any. Just Europeans. However, you can check with AbD regarding the riverboat.

@CaliKris - Have you guys decided whether to PIF? I think we're going to go for it later this week.
Yes, we are! Unfortunately, our adult children had to cancel due to work conflicts. Who knew when we booked this that Feb 2022 wouldn't be a good time for either of them?

I will let you know if we change our minds, but right now we are all in. Any idea how many are booked on this ABD?
