Are clear bags still easier to use through gate check?

Hello! I previously read that people were bringing in clear bags so that they would get through the gate check quicker. Does this still hold true? I have a tote size clear bag that I was going to use as a diaper bag & to carry other misc items. Do they still make you open it up & check through it even though it's clear?

YMMV but when I used to carry a clear bag, a small one, maybe the size of a 1 gallon Ziploc type bag, I never had to open it.

I go without a bag now. Even easier!

I always use a clear Disney World gift shop bag. The bag checkers often tell me how much they appreciate it. :goodvibes
They usually take a quick look on the outside, give my bag a squeeze, and away I go. :)

I use a mesh drawstring backpack I got from one of the rundisney races. Security always says how much they like the see through bag and quickly glance at it and wave me through :)

While it is probably true, we are talking a difference of about 30 seconds, in my experience. I always have a large backpack with lots of pockets, because I am a tour director for groups. I make sure all the zippers are undone when I get to the table, and it never takes more than 20-30 seconds.

I agree. And, me personally, I wouldn't want any other guests to see all day long what I was carrying around in my bag. But that's just my opinion.

They can go through my backpack in virtually no time. Just have it open and ready to go when you get there.

The real delay at bag check is the people in front of you. If a person comes up to the bag check with their bag open and ready then the actual check takes only a few seconds.

The bag checkers are really quite efficient with the process. Use a bag that is comfortable for you to,carry the whole day!

Yep. Scan the lines at the bag check and don't get behind someone who has a huge backpack that remains on their shoulders until they are right at the table. That person will then need to take the bag off, unzip, unvelcro every pocket. Or, maybe even worse - a group of women (I am one so don't call me sexist) who all have purses and/or bags and are talking and laughing about their upcoming day and none of them take their bags off their shoulders until the security guard asks the first one to do so. While she's opening her bags and chatting with the guard, the other ladies behind her are still talking to each other and have no clue they will need to do the same thing. Repeat with each lady.

You want to get behind people who already have their bags off their shoulders and either unzipped already or are in the process of unzipping them.

I have a clear plastic backpack that I sometimes carry if it's raining when I start out so I can put my umbrella and a sweater in it. I don't have to unzip it but really as others have said, if you have your bag open, unzipped in all the pockets and already sitting on the table it goes fast. Even if I don't carry the back pack I carry a small crossbody just for my cell phone and a poncho and I always have it on the table unzipped and sort of spread open so all they have to do is shine their little flashlight in. And as others have stated, watch the lines you will be able to tell the seasoned WDW people have already got their bags open and ready, get behind them. I try to stay away from those loaded down strollers as well, people don't seem to realize those diaper bags have to be opened, those Disney store bags have to be opened and all the stuff on the bottom has to be open.

Even coolers. And the guards cannot take anything out of the "device" themselves. They cannot remove a bag from someone's shoulders or from under a stroller or a wheelchair. It was quite funny when my then five year old granddaughter was asked to remove her very tiny waist pack and she exclaimed, "I just have my school ID in there!" We chucked and told her she was living in the post 9/11 world. Since then, she's had her pack unbuckled and ready to go. She learned very quickly :)
