Are Americans really this ignorant or lazy :)

If you're old enough to be able to read the sign, you're old enough to know how to wash your hands and old enough to know you should.

If you're young enough not to know how to wash your hands, you're probably too young to read. So what's the point?

There are percious few things I want following me into the restroom and advertising is not one of them.

Some people are raised by dumb wolves.

Life is not fair.

& some people are not that smart or not trained to have common sense.

Common sense nowadays are considered luxury for stupid people.

Uhg, Squatters. I've dislocated my knees a few times, leaving me in a knee brace. Needless to say, there's no squatting when you're in a knee brace. I hated having to go from stall to stall just to find one that hadn't been peed on. Some people should just duck behind a bush. I wish people would think about others.

Do squatters line chairs in restaurants when they're wearing shorts? :scratchin

One time I saw a woman line the seat and back of her movie theater seat with paper towels and then do the same for the three children. At first I rolled my eyes, but then I started to wonder about that sticky feeling on the edge of my own seat...

And I have had to chant in my head "Urine is sterile" in my own house while potty training children.

You really have a way with words. Why are you asking if Americans are lazy & ignorant?

i dont think crazyj4488 is the one who wants to know.....i think he is saying" hey-- whats sparkle think of us americans??" not much- if they think we are stupid and need to know how to wash our hands.

thats what i get out of the question.

All I see is too much politically correctness that makes us look so stupid.

Let them think whatever they want. But never should they perceive that majority of Americans are living that stupid standard.

I've become so paranoid that I use the napkin I dried my hands with to open the door when I'm done.

Not only do I use a paper towel to open the door (if only blow dryers I use TP) but I get the paper towel and put it under my elbow before washing so that I can use it to turn off the sink faucet in a public restroom. If its not an automatic sink, DO NOT touch the handle after washing. Somebody just wiped themselves (hopefully) with the same hand they used to turn on that nasty faucet. So I dry my hands BEFORE turning off the sink with the piece of paper towel and without touching anything I open the door with it too. I may have wasted a bit more water, but I figure its a small price to pay for germ prevention. Survey the scene before you potty. If there are no paper towels, use TP.

I had to explain this to my DNiece (11). I was horrified that this was not her common practice. I'm more disturbed having read just a part of this thread.

kind of like on my schredder- it shows you a picture of a tie with a slash over it--- like who would really need to be told this stuff??

The same people who drive with steaming hot coffee between their legs and wonder why they burn their *%$*% when it spills.

Ah, that's what Darwin Awards are for. http://www.darwinawards.com/

You know there is a convincing arguement out there that says that the constant obsession with "no germs" can be way more harmful than exposure. Without exposure to germs your immune system can never build up antibodies to fight off infections.

That's not to say that one should dive head first, so to speak, into contaminated areas but being overly protective may just be counterproductive.

you said it! :thumbsup2

then they have to sue someone because THEY are the dopes that spilled the coffee on themselves.

OMG-- where IS the common sense? and why do we entertain/tolerate stupidity?? I go through life just shaking my head most of the time?? :sad2:

I think it is supposed to be taken from a comical point of view, not a "people are morons" point of view.

I always get step 2 and step 3 mixed up so I'm glad that they have these signs up. (Just a stupid American responding)

& i always thought we were supposed to do this before we went in the stall not after... another stupid american responding

i actually saw one someplace ( maybe Walmart???) that told you how long to scrub your hands but being a stupid american i forget

I can understand why some people choose/ need to use hand sanitiser instead of soap and water after using the restroom. However, I wish they would do it while still in the restrooms. If they do it when they return to their group/stroller/backpack etc it means they left the restroom with dirty hands. They touch the door handle and leave their germs ready for those of us who have washed our hands to pick up. Thanks..... This is how tummy bugs can get passed.

At the parks we always clean our hands with antibacterial wipes before we eat as the bathroom obviously isn't the only place you can pick up nasty germs.

I wash my hands, get a towel and try them, use the towel to turn off the faucet, then use the towel to open the door, hold the door with my foot and toss the towel in the trash and leave. Am I paranoid or what!!!

I usually use my sleeve LOL. I don't like to touch things in public bathrooms. I grab a piece of TP to lock the door.

Also, am I the only one that uses their foot to flush the toilet?

Most (if not all) bathrooms in WDW are walk in, no doors.

Actually Americans are more sanitary than other countries ie: In India, men urinate in public. In Asia, spitting is all the rage. It is not directed at Americans, but all people and is just a funny reminder.

I actually do not touch ANYTHING in the bathrooms. I grab a piece of TP to latch the door, do not sit on the seat and wash my hands well and often. I also get the towels before I wash my hands so I don't have to touch the dispenser with clean hands. I never touch my face or put fingers in my mouth or touch my eyes...that is how you get sick. If your hands are dirty and you touch your nose, eyes or mouth the germs travel thru mucos membranes. So even if your hands are dirty, keep them away from your face and you will not get sick.

PS: I use my foot to flush too.

I do this at home as well. So many places are loaded with germs: the gym, shopping carts...everywhere. It's not a matter of killing the germs, it's a matter of keeping them out of your body.

No it doesn't!! Most ladies I know (some men, too) take a paper towel with them and open the door handle. And, as my biologist friend always tells me, germs do not grow on metal.

I NEVER ever get sick (cough cough-- excuse me :rotfl: ) no- really i cant tell you the last time i went to the doctor for being sick.

anyway-- i was in disney in december- and dont you know....IT GOT SICK! upper respiratory- cough, stiffy nose etc. i was talking to a CM and he said a lot of people had it-- ewwww so even if you wash your hands the germs are out there........lurking! ....waiting to get you somehow! :scared:
